I should like this show. I agree with their politics and the subject matter is relevant to me, but I hate them so much. They’re smug and confidently condescending about some things they clearly don’t actually bother to learn about.
But all that is forgivable. It’s the inability to ever show any kind of sincerity about any subject that irks me. I’m fine with dark humor, tasteless jokes, and levity, but when those things are employed by people who never show any depth whatsoever, it crosses over from a relatable cynicism to feel more like outsiders laughing at people than people laughing over things they’re experiencing together.
Maybe if they mature a little or find a way to demonstrate a level of actual concern for anything other than the extremely narrow swath of issues that personally affect them, I’d feel differently.
