I was anxious to listen to this, as I think there is more to Briteline than we know. The series seem to only skin the surface and only covered a handful of the fatalities. I feel like there is just so much more information that could’ve been divulged, more insight. I felt like it left me hanging at the end, unfinished. Maybe there could’ve been solutions, maybe there could be avenues for accountability.…

Obey the laws and stay off the tracks. Even a fire truck driver thought they could go past the railroad crossing while the arms were down. You can’t rescue anyone if you’re dead. It’s that simple.

Florida resident here, people are here commenting strange things, indicating their assumption that there are poles/flashing lights everywhere a road crosses a train track, that’s simply not the case in Florida. Although there are many alert devices they aren’t at all intersections. Anyone who walks near EV cars knows they sneak up on you unless they have that fun high pitched Jetsons sound effect.

This is an in-depth piece on different aspects of Brightline. You have to listen to each and every episode to get a true sense of the whole story. I think this investigative journalism is well done. Most Americans don’t truly understand true high-speed rail networks unless you’ve travelled to Europe or Asia where they exist and are highly functional (not always perfect but an asset to their people). The US has a long ways to go and it takes investment but it has to be done properly to make it safe (which is one of the main points of this podcast) and accessible for everyone. There’s some “shady” things going on with Brightline that need to be exposed and this podcast appears to be doing that. After all, it’s tax payer money that’s being used for a large portion of this project, so this affects every FL resident on some level.
