    GO WHERE YOU’RE APPRECIATED, NOT WHERE YOU’RE TOLERATED | KIMYAPS What does it actually mean to be appreciated in a relationship? In this episode of KimYaps, Kiminou takes a phrase that sounds simple on Instagram and pulls it apart in real life: the difference between being loved, being needed, being tolerated, and actually feeling like your presence matters. From perceived partner responsiveness and rejection sensitivity to reciprocity, emotional investment, overthinking, potential, nonchalance, and the small everyday moments that relationships are really built on, this episode looks at what happens when one person starts carrying the emotional weight of two. Because not every uncomfortable relationship is unhealthy. Sometimes people are tired. Sometimes they misunderstand you. Sometimes your own fear of rejection makes ambiguity feel like proof. But there is also a point where patience becomes over-functioning, empathy becomes obligation, and you realize you weren’t participating in the relationship. You were powering it. This is a conversation about learning the difference between temporary imbalance and a relationship built on imbalance, loving people without disappearing inside of that love, and remembering that appreciation isn’t applause. It’s evidence. Small, human, imperfect evidence that your existence matters to somebody. Go where you’re appreciated, not where you’re merely tolerated. And when you get there, make sure the people beside you feel appreciated too. I love y’all, but Jesus loves you more.

    ANOTHER TUESDAY: TURNING 20, NASTY 19, AND THE MYTH OF GROWING UP I turn 20 in 23 days. Ew. There’s something about losing the “teen” at the end of your age that makes adulthood suddenly sound way more official than it actually feels. Nineteen still gives you an alibi. You make a terrible decision? You’re 19. Fall in love after three conversations at 2 in the morning? Nineteen. Spend money you absolutely should’ve saved? Nineteen. But 20? Twenty sounds like taxes. Dental appointments. Stress. Apparently lobotomies. In this episode, I’m talking about what I affectionately call Nasty 19: one of the strangest years of my life. Changing environments, business, basketball, school, relationships, family, my body reminding me that mortality is real, my relationship with God, and the uncomfortable realization that “future me” eventually becomes…you. We grow up imagining certain ages as destinations. Twenty. Twenty-one. Thirty. Forty. Like one morning you’re supposed to wake up and suddenly understand money, love, purpose, your parents, your body, and why everybody keeps pretending they know what they’re doing. Then you get there. And it’s Tuesday. So maybe adulthood isn’t becoming some completely different person. Maybe it’s realizing your parents are human. The people you love are human. The people who hurt you are human. The adults you thought had everything figured out were freestyling too. And maybe growing older is less about finally arriving somewhere and more about learning how to actually be present for the life that was happening while you were waiting to arrive. So yeah. I’m finna be 20. Still sounds disgusting. But I think I’ll be alright. I love you, but Jesus loves you more.

    God Knows Your Heart. Are You Sure That’s Good News?

    Everybody loves saying, “God knows my heart.” Okay. But have you ever actually thought about what that means? In this episode of KimYaps, Kiminou sits with the first five verses of Proverbs 21 and somehow ends up everywhere from basketball coaches and controlling parents to gossiping aunties, pride, procrastination, worship, and the little stories we tell ourselves so we can keep believing we were right. Because you can make almost anything sound reasonable in your own head. You remember everybody else’s tone in 4K and somehow your own attitude comes back in 140p. You call it closure when you want control. You call it protecting your peace when you really do not want to have the conversation. You call it waiting on the right time when you might simply be scared to be seen trying. And then Proverbs comes in and ruins the whole defense. God weighs the heart. So maybe the fact that God knows your heart should comfort you. Maybe it should scare the hell out of you too.

This is less of a sermon and more of a conversation about why Christian sexual ethics exist in the first place, what people misunderstand about them, and why gay people have so often been treated like their sin somehow belongs in a different category than everybody else's. And somewhere underneath all of it is a larger question. What happens when what you desire and what you believe God requires from you do not agree?
