Just… really, really good.  Because life has these transitions, some you expect, some you don’t, and even when you know they’re coming… you still don’t feel ready. Steph is stepping into one of those moments right now. An engagement on the horizon, families about to meet for the first time, and all the emotions that come with realizing your kid is building a life of their own. We talk nerves, anticipation, and yes, a few wedding nightmare stories… because obviously. But underneath all of it is this truth we keep coming back to: Life doesn’t wait for us to feel ready.

Rebuilding community after disappointment can feel intimidating. It’s easier to stay guarded, keep things surface-level, or convince ourselves we don’t really need it. But following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. In this episode we talk about what healthy Christian community actually looks like, why midlife makes meaningful friendships harder (and more necessary), and how to take small, brave steps toward belonging again. Because you don’t just stumble into real community. You awkwardly out yourself out there and build it.

    When “Fine” Isn’t God’s Best

    Send us Fan Mail “I have a lot of complicated feelings about the church, but I don’t have any about Jesus.” In a season where many people are processing disappointment, hurt, and complicated emotions about faith communities, we’re asking an honest question: what does it look like to keep moving toward Jesus anyway? Church hurt can feel like stepping into sticky mud. Community feels risky. And sometimes the easiest thing to do is just skate by spiritually instead of stepping forward again. But what does skating by actually look like? Maybe you still believe in Jesus, but you rarely invite Him into your decisions. Maybe faith feels more like maintenance than transformation. Maybe you’ve settled into being “fine” spiritually, comfortable but not growing. In this episode we talk about how easy it is to drift into spiritual autopilot, especially when life is busy, responsibilities are high, and church feels complicated. We unpack the difference between protecting your heart and isolating it, and why skating by might feel safe but was never God’s best plan for us. Because God’s invitation has always been deeper than maintenance. It’s transformation.

    HOLY & HORMONAL

    Send us Fan Mail We are in Leviticus. We are in Lent. And we are in midlife. This season can feel unhinged. Hormones shifting. Roles evolving. Energy changing. And somewhere in the middle of it all, it’s easy to slip into skating by. Just surviving. Managing symptoms. Protecting comfort. Keeping everything afloat. But we were not made to just survive this season. What if midlife isn’t a holding pattern? What if it’s a redefining? We’re leaning into the truth that this second act is not about shrinking our expectations or settling into comfort mode. It’s about stepping out of autopilot and into alignment with who God is calling us to become. Leviticus teaches us about being set apart. Lent invites intentional surrender. And this hormonal, refining season might be the very fire God is using to grow us and not reduce us. This isn’t about powering through hot flashes or laughing our way through the chaos (though we’ll still laugh). It’s about moving from comfort to conviction. From surviving to thriving. From skating by to stepping up. We are not reduced. We are being refined.
