Have you ever experienced a closed door, painful setback, or rejection that made you question God's plan for your life? I've discovered that sometimes the greatest temptation isn't just giving up on a dream—it's giving up on ourselves AND OUR DIVINE PURPOSE. I remember feeling called to serve God at just five years old. In my teens, I ministered in prisons and orphanages, and later attended Bible College with my husband, Kevin. I knew I was called to change the world and lead others to Jesus. But disappointment came. After being placed as associate pastors, I discovered that my desire to minister wasn't “allowed” because I was a woman. After months of being overlooked, my passion began to fade. I eventually left that church, returned to college, pursued a Psychology degree, and decided not to pursue ministry. Broken and bruised, I entered higher learning trying to figure out where I could find my purpose and destiny. I had the potential but not the favor. But God met me there. He brought teachers who helped me discover His healing power and reminded me that I was created for greatness. They showed me that God's plan for me was bigger than the limitations others had placed on me. Looking back, I can see that this disappointment produced fruit I never expected. Experiencing rejection, comparison, and emotional pain helped equip me to understand and encourage others. Your disappointment does not have the final word—God does.
