KitorangSG EP 5: Aidil Sharin Sahak

Aidil Sharin Sahak is a name that has lately sparked both pride and reflection among Singaporeans. Once a domestic stalwart as a player—and later coach in the local clubs before venturing ti Malaysia and Indonesia —he has now earned the Malaysia Super League Coach of the Year after leading Kuching City FC to a surprising and stirring fourth-place finish in the 2024-25 Malaysia Super League, transforming a team in relegation danger into one that will compete in the ASEAN Club Championship next season. But while Aidil’s triumph south of the Causeway is a bright spot, it also highlights how far Singapore football seems to have drifted. Domestically, the Singapore Premier League is struggling to raise the bar and consistently produce results that excite fans or develop players into regional calibre stars. The national team continues to underwhelm in many tournaments. Aidil Sharin steps into the KitorangSG studio this week to talk about football.
