Susie Lee started her Congressional career in 2019 by being sworn in during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.At the end of the year, the first-term Democrat voted to impeach the president.“I did not get elected with the intention of wanting to impeach the president," Lee told KNPR's State of Nevada, "And outside the decision to send men and women to war to protect our freedom, making the decision to proceed with impeachment for this president is one of the most grave decisions I make as a member of Congress.”

    Ski Area Expansion Proposal Enters Final Phase

    Lee Canyon ski area, about 30 miles northwest of Las Vegas, has proposed a major expansion that's entering its final phase for gaining approval.Because the resort is located in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, operators have a special use permit with the U.S. Forest Service. That means they have to go through the same review process as required on other public lands.

    Utah recently became the 19th state to ban a controversial practice commonly known as conversion therapy for minors.  Conversion therapy aims to change a patient’s sexual orientation or gender identity.  It’s a practice discredited by most medical professionals, including the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association, who have called it futile and destructive.  Utah is the most conservative state in the U.S. to ban the practice.

    The days of substitute teachers in the classroom meaning a free, easy day for students are over.  Substitutes, in many cases, now are in the classrooms full-time; making lesson plans, grading papers, teaching your kids the same way a full-time teacher would.  Long-term substitutes in the Clark County School District help fill the 750 teacher vacancy positions. CCSD currently employes 664 long-term substitutes. But, they are paid much less than full-time teachers.
