The Project Censored Show is a weekly public affairs program that airs Fridays from 1-2 P.M. Pacific time on KPFA Pacifica Radio. The program is an extension of the work Project Censored began in 1976 celebrating independent journalism while fighting media censorship and supporting a truly free press. The program focuses on The News That Didn’t Make the News. Each week, co-hosts Mickey Huff and Peter Phillips conduct in depth interviews with their guests and offer hard hitting commentary on the key political, social, and economic issues of the day with an emphasis on critical media literacy. The program began broadcasting in 2010 and is nationally syndicated on over 20 stations.

    First up, I sit down with educator and author Allison Butler to talk about her latest book: The Judgment of Gender: How Women are Centered and Silenced in Pop Culture. Allison dissects this seeming contradiction of both centering and silencing women. We dive into some history to orient us in the present, consider the intersections of womanhood, the women in service to patriarchy, and more. Next up, Dr. Shir Hever comes back on the show this time to give us a perspective on the war on Iran that you wont likely hear, even in alternative and independent media. Shir prompts us to consider what the actual goals of the war are through understanding modern warfare, the US/Israeli relationship, and the paradoxical stability of totalitarianism staring at us from this current apocalyptic war. Allison T. Butler is Senior Lecturer and Associate Chair in the Department of Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is the Vice President of the Media Freedom Foundation and the author of The Judgment of Gender: How Women are Centered and Silenced in Pop Culture, published by The Censored Press. Dr. Shir Hever is a scholar of Israels occupation, apartheid and genocide, born in Israel and now living in Germany. He is the managing director of the Alliance for Justice between Israelis and Palestinians and his latest book is The Privatization of Israeli Security. The News That Didn’t Make the News.     First up on the show, Christian Nationalism, Evangelicalism – some might say that its whats destroying our nation, but are we actually ready to sit with how much it actually defines our nation? Jared Stacy, a former Evangelical Pastor and author of the newly released book, Reality in Ruins: How Conspiracy Theory Became an American Evangelical Crisis, joins the show to talk about the history and the present of this entwined relationship between the US and Evangelicalism, how conspiracy theories become gospel, and how if we want to address the fallout from this tangle, theological intervention is necessary. Next up, chief of advocacy at Freedom of the Press Foundation Seth Stern comes back on the show to dig into some of the most recent and egregious threats to the First Amendment – from classifying black clothing as criminal activity to journalistic malpractice in apocalyptic times, and more. JaredStacy, PhD is a theologian and ethicist and former pastor to evangelical churches in New Orleans and the Washington, DC, metro area. He received a Ph.D. in moral & practical theology from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. His research focuses on the intersection of theology and politics. Specifically on ethics, extremism/conspiracy theory and US evangelicalism. Jareds work and his story have been featured on platforms likeTime,NPR,NBC News, the BBC, andChristianity Today.     In the first half of todays show, I sit down with Michael and Em from Project Saltbox to discuss their work of data gathering and analysis vis a vis DHS. They discuss their ICE Warehouse Tracker tool, and how ill-prepared these sites are to house tens of thousands of people. Michael and Em also discuss what the effects would be on communities surrounding these warehouses, and how we can use data to better understand the massive planned network of disappearing people, and thereby act to stop it. Next up, James Schneider with the Nuestra America Convoy joins us to discuss the planned aid drop on March 21st in Havana, bringing together citizens from around the world to stand in active opposition to the US escalated punishment against Cuba for being a good example. James highlights the importance of these coordinated actions, inspired by the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza, the importance of engaging with the world as if sovereignty and justice mattered, and providing ways for people to express their solidarity.     First up, journalist Stephanie Koithan joins the show to discuss Dilley, a concentration camp predominantly for children. Stephanie discusses some of the horrific stories shes uncovered through her investigative reporting including instances of gross medical neglect and how difficult it is to do that reporting from what she calls a black site of information, and the retaliation by guards against the children for speaking with press. Next up, my cohost Mickey Huff and I dig into some of the news that didn’t make the news with a focus on the US/Israeli illegal and unprovoked attacks on Iran. We discuss the nuance and multitude of facts that corporate media always miss or omit, the importance of historical context, the regional repercussions of these attacks, and more. We also look at patterns of mis and disinformation, tools and tips for media consumers and creators, and more. Next up, Katie Jones from Fractracker joins the show to talk about the shadowy connection between data centers and fracking. Katie talks about how data centers are in many ways the new fracking boom, and are using many of the same loopholes and tactics to push through public opposition while also of course demanding a power surge, mostly coming from fossil fuels. Katie and I also debunk some of the propaganda around how good data centers are for your community, and highlight Fractracker tools to educate, engage and organize in your home place. Next up, cohost Eleanor Goldfield sits down with researcher and associate director at the Eisenhower Media Network Christian Sorensen to talk about how the military is a tool of corporate capture, how the military industrial complex hurts the working class here at home, medias bedazzling of military life, and how the US empires greed actually in the long term hurts its own hegemonic objectives.
