PLEASE. STAY. TOUCH.: Seth Eisen & Tiffany Taylor on Jess Curtis, Disability, Dance & Presence

What does it mean to be fully present in a body—and what becomes possible when we challenge assumptions about who gets to dance, how we experience art, and which senses we value? KSVY’s Ronny Joe Grooms sits down with artist, curator and “memory keeper” Seth Eisen and blind interdisciplinary performer and accessibility consultant Tiffany Taylor for an expansive conversation inspired by PLEASE. STAY. TOUCH. — Jess Curtis Experiments with Gravity, now in its final weekend at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco. Curated by Eisen and LisaRuth Elliott, the exhibition transforms the archive of pioneering choreographer Jess Curtis into a multisensory, participatory experience exploring movement, touch, disability, perception, memory and presence. Taylor, who performed and collaborated with Curtis in works including Sight Unseen, (In)-Visible and Into the Dark, recalls the moment she told him, “Jess, I’m not a dancer.” His response: “Well, sure you are.” From there, the conversation explores Curtis’s radical curiosity, integrated casts of disabled and non-disabled performers, accessibility as an artistic language, dancing in complete darkness, consent, tactile experience, and the many ways our bodies know the world. As Eisen asks in the conversation: “How do we transform by being present?” PLEASE. STAY. TOUCH. — Jess Curtis Experiments with Gravity closes Sunday, August 16, at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco. https://fortmason.org/event/please-stay-touch-jess-curtis-experiments-with-gravity/2026-07-01/ Listen to the full conversation, then go experience the exhibition while you still can.

Salty Residency July Finale: Blaire Carson Scheibal and Tamer Hamawi Welcome ELIF to Napa Music Hall

Salty Sundays Productions cofounders Blaire Carson Scheibal and Tamer Hamawi join Ronny Joe Grooms on KSVY Sonoma for a conversation ahead of the Salty Residency July Finale at Napa Music Hall on Friday, July 31. After a month of music, community and dancing, the inaugural Salty Residency welcomes internationally acclaimed Turkish-born, Barcelona-based DJ, producer and Marginalia label founder ELIF for a special one-night-only performance. In this interview, Blaire and Tamer share how Salty Sundays evolved from a beloved Napa pop-up dance series into a creative event production company presenting immersive music experiences in Napa Valley, San Francisco, New York, France and Tokyo. They discuss the inspiration they have drawn from the Burning Man community, their commitment to participation and genuine human connection, and the distinctive roles they each bring to the Salty Sundays experience. They also talk about the vision behind the Salty Residency, a more intimate and music-focused extension of Salty Sundays built around exceptional artists, sophisticated dance floors and a welcoming community. The conversation explores why they selected ELIF to headline the July finale, how they first connected with her music and what makes her hypnotic blend of melodic house and indie dance such a fitting conclusion to the residency’s inaugural month. Born and raised in Istanbul and now based in Barcelona, ELIF has become one of electronic music’s most respected emerging international artists. Her performances have taken her to Coachella’s Do LaB, Tomorrowland, Lightning in a Bottle, Daybreaker and Fabric London, with support from BBC Radio 1 and other leading electronic music outlets. As the founder of Marginalia, she is also building a home for emerging artists and continuing to expand her creative influence beyond the DJ booth. The July 31 celebration begins with a free Plaza Happy Hour from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. along the Napa River, featuring Tamer Hamawi and Australian duo Contour. The evening then moves inside The Club at Napa Music Hall at 9:00 p.m., where ELIF makes her Napa debut as the headliner for the Salty Residency July Finale. Listen to the full interview to learn more about Blaire and Tamer’s creative partnership, the community behind Salty Sundays and the journey that brought ELIF to Napa Valley.
