Introducing Lab Notes Episode 10 - Learning

What does the business need to get better at? What do I want to get better at? Can I separate the desired outcome of learning from the competency itself? How did I learn what I know now?  When we ask these questions we get a chance to explore how we learn anything. Was it through immersion, repetition, conscious pursuit, unfortunate accident? How do we learn as an individual, as a community, as a business?

The specialty of both our guests in this episode is learning - though each with very different approaches.

Lab Notes with Russ Hamilton Episode 6 - Meet them where they are

Lab Notes with Russ Hamilton Episode 6 - Meet them where they are

If you are a coach, a facilitator, a manager, director or a CEO - one of the most challenging and most important objectives is to meet the individuals around you where they are. What's interesting to them? What's useful to them? How can I meet this person where they are? It's often easier to identify what we think they need to get better at than it is to make the journey and see their challenges from their perspective. I need to let go of my assessment of them and fully invest in being curious about them and inviting them them to tell me about what's going on.  In this episode each guest shares their leadership adventures and a key concept which they all experienced - how the audience helps inform their content by meeting the audience where they are.

Valerie Nishi • Principal at Tidewater Leadership
Reilly Dow • Graphic Facilitator, Pinkfish
Tami Forman •  Executive Director at Path Forward

Valerie Nishi found her leadership potential as a presenter when she understood her audience's need for her to make a demand on them. Reilly Dow who created the graphic for the Six Box Model, describes her surprise at how the presenter/audience relationship, opposite to our personal narratives, is in reality is a supportive, caring relationship. And, Tami Forman shows how the presenter and audience connection is a collaborative exercise.

Conversations will revolve around how they are practicing and what they are discovering based on the Connection Lab Six Box Model.

gokd star ⭐️ and high five!

ive been eating this podcast up. so IMPORTANT! the ideas contained here are simple (maybe not easy) and can completely transform ur world. russ’ charming, calm, focussed, intelligent, funny presence keeps the conversation on track, circling back to the foundational concepts: what do i want to get better at? how do i show up under stress? relationship over content. he has guests from all over the globe from wildly different professions, backgrounds, speaking of and to their connection lab experiences, learning, growth and evolution, both personally and at work, in a way that is fun to listen to, easy to understand, and has me thinking about and using the ideas already! highest recommendation possible.

A Great Listen

Authentic and entertaining. Such a healthy approach to great leadership and achieving potential. Especially enjoyed the interview with Mark Frein and when Russ answered Mark's question. Really inspirational. A lot of honesty on this show - quite refreshing.
