During those years she trained to become a Reiki Master, a Sekhem Healer and a Karma Yogi Practitioner under the teaching of Karma Guru Sumant Kaul; strengthened her extra senses; and worked on several family constellation therapies.     A psychologist's take on addiction therapy and couples counselling

    Talking about addiction therapy and couples counselling with Tracy O'Neill. Tracy is a chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). She studied in London for both her undergraduate and postgraduate psychology degrees. She also holds a business degree from the USA, a diploma in mediation, a specialist qualification in couples therapy and also professional qualification in psychometric testing from the British Psychological Society. Tracy has worked with severe trauma survivors and spent about ten years working in active addiction treatment support services, she worked for a brief time with teens and now works with a university student population and in private practice . In her spare time she is  on the board of a Children's cancer charity based in east Africa raising funds for cancer treatment services.

    Steps to Self Compassion with Mary O'Callaghan

    Mary O’Callaghan Mary O’Callaghan, MA, EAP, is the founder-director of Oscailt. Mary is an accredited psychotherapist and supervisor and has also been exploring meditation practices for nearly 40 years. During that time, she spent eight years living as a Buddhist nun and underwent intensive training in Eastern psychology and meditation. She has led meditation retreats in Europe and Asia and is passionate about integrating mindfulness into everyday life. It starts on Monday the 23rd of September and runs until the 11th of November. Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 7.15 pm – 9.45 pm. There will be a half day of practice on Sunday the 3rd of November from 10.00 am – 2.00 pm. The fee is €350. While many of us would be quick to complain about being treated harshly by a loved one, friend or colleague, the reality is that we tend to treat ourselves in ways we would never treat anyone else. When things go wrong for us, how quickly we use expressions of self-blame such as what’s the matter with me? or what have I done now? or there I go again!. This habit of negative and critical self-talk is undermining, unproductive and stressful. Mindful self-compassion helps us, first to recognise these habits as they arise (mindfulness) and then to let go of our harshness towards ourselves and, instead, to develop understanding, tenderness and kindness (self-compassion). This eight-week programme is for anyone who has some previous experience of mindfulness and who wants to cultivate compassion for themselves and for others.

    In this episode I had the privilege of interviewing the legend Marianne Williamson. For more than four decades, Marianne Williamson has been a leader of spiritually progressive circles. She is the author of 16 books, four of which have been #1 New York Times best sellers. A quote from the mega-bestseller A Return to Love, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…” is considered an anthem for a contemporary generation of seekers. Williamson founded Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization that has delivered more than 18 million meals to ill and dying homebound patients in the Los Angeles area since 1989. The group was created to help people suffering from the ravages of HIV/AIDS. She has also worked throughout her career on poverty, anti-hunger and racial reconciliation issues. In 2004, she co-founded The Peace Alliance and supported the creation of a U.S. Department of Peace. Williamson ran for the democratic nomination for the Presidency of the United States in both 2020 and 2024.
