Lavender Mafia

I was introduced to this podcast when I was still fairly new in my coming out journey, and now it’s one of my favorite things ever. Jack and Jess are warm and hilarious guides helping listeners navigate the choppy waters of being a queer person with a Christian background. Regardless of whether those listeners have chosen to move forward with a Christian identity or not, the Lavender Mafia is a joyous, affirming, practical and, most importantly: safe space to continue exploring the intersection of spirituality and queerness.

I was on a bit of a deconstructive bender when I connected with Jack on believr, and they told me about this podcast. No joke, I binged the first thirty episodes over the course of a single week. It’s so refreshing to have a space where the identities of “queer” and “Christian” aren’t treated as mutually exclusive, but rather different facets of one’s whole self. The chemistry Jack and Jess have as hosts is electric, and I love that they’re willing to explore all sorts of topics, whether diving deep into dissecting the scriptures, or exploring the more taboo in their “After Dark” series. I’ve found an awesome community through this show, and I’m so grateful for it.

I love this podcast so much! The more queer and diverse narratives that I get to hear the more excited I get about how wonderfully big the LGBTQ+ community is 😊❤️ Keep it up yall!

I love listening to two queer Christians who have the life experience to talk about their spiritual journeys. They do a great job of explaining traditional Christian ideas if people aren't familiar and why we are moving away from those ideas. Both the regular episodes and After Dark give me so much life! I listen to this podcast while riding my bike to the lab as much as possible.
