003 Brenda Diaz, Nashville Big Picture High School
Nashville Big Picture High School (NBPHS) is an innovative, public school of choice serving grades 9-12 in Nashville, Tennessee (USA). In Episode 003 of LeaderTalk, Dr. Brenda Diaz shares some of the structures that facilitate powerful student learning at NBPHS, including different ways of thinking about advisories, internships, senior capstone projects, restorative practices, and professional learning for educators. Brenda is a strong advocate for project-based learning as a Tier I intervention and as a vehicle for learning equity. She shares a lot of wisdom in this episode. There is a reason that in 2022 Brenda was named as the Ted Sizer School Leader of the Year for the entire Big Picture Learning network! Brenda also was named High School Principal of the Year for the Metro Nashville Public Schools in 2023.
