96: Let's Create Those Execute Functioning Plans with Tera Sumpter SLP Coffee Talk

    • How To

Executive functioning is an important part of life for our students, but unfortunately, some of them really struggle with it.

Understanding what executive functioning really is and how to target it in speech therapy is a crucial step to helping them improve their impulse control and start achieving their goals.

In today’s episode of SLP Coffee Talk, I sat down with Tera Sumpter to learn all about executive functioning and how we can work together with other team members to help our students improve.

Tera Sumpter, M.A., CCC-SLP is the founder and Speech-Language Pathologist at Seeds of Learning, LLC where she specializes in executive functioning, literacy development, and other learning disabilities.

She is the developer of an integrated cognitive processing model for assessment and treatment.  Tera is invited to present nationwide and internationally on her integrative learning model and executive functioning. Tera is the author of The Seeds of Learning:  A Cognitive Processing Model for Speech, Language, Literacy & Executive Functioning.

Students with executive functioning difficulties are often considered to have behavior issues or are mislabeled as lazy in the classroom, but the truth is much deeper than that. Listen in as Tera shares how we can develop plans based on our students’ behavior and improve their executive functioning in the classroom and out.
