Ep 234 Hawaiian Builder Allan Yee Owner of "Tickled Pink"
Hawaiian Builder Allan Yee has been into Classic Air-Cooled VWs since the early days. In the late 80's he built a well known car. A car refered to by its name. Tickled pink. That car went through a absolute unbelivable life. Even being set on fire in Allans Garage. At the 2023 Shaka VW show thats put on by the VW Club of Hawaii Alan had 2 cars he built on display. A 1966 VW Fast back and 1974 VW Thing. some super unbelivable cars. Top quality cars built in Hawaii. A great podcat about one of Honolulu.

Back Into It
Bill found the Podcast 6 months ago and enjoyed the content.
More importantly I am the second owner of a 71SB Convertible that was my son’s first car. Shortly he was in a major fender bender which prompted him to decide that it needed restoration. Tore it apart and then found a Girl that he eventually married.
That was in 2004. And Poko Dot has sat ever since.
Most importantly your Podcast has inspired me to begin the journey to restore Her.
Also within the last 3 months I purchased a beautiful 1974 Acapulco.
YOU ARE SO RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ENTHUSIASM

The door to a world I never knew I needed
I've always been curious about why old VW's and their owners are so quirky, and found not only a hobby, but a community. I've been making my way through all the episodes, trying to figure out how I'm gonna build my own car. Also he's just started putting out YouTube videos that are great, definitely catch those out as well.
Thank you Bill, keep on doing what you do! You're a pillar of the community and are actively recording the history of our hobby!
Doughnuts
Bill does a great job of pulling historical info out of the old-timers but also younger people who came after the sixties, seventies and eighties revolution, and follow up to the modern age of restoration, events and racing. The episode with Eric Meyer pulls so much together, time, fads, styles - it’s excellent. Sometimes I wonder where he’s (Bill) going with his questions but he brings it back together so cleverly.
