    NHS announces life changing sickle cell treatment for patients in UK.

    In a major breakthrough, National Health Service (NHS) has approved the first drug for sickle cell disease in 20 years. The "revolutionary" treatment, called the Crizanlizumab, will help over 5,000 people with the condition in the next three years, NHS said in a statement. It will also slash the number of times a sickle cell disease patient needs to go to A&E by two-fifths.

    Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder. It is marked by flawed hemoglobin. That’s the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to the tissues of the body. So, sickle cell disease interferes with the delivery of oxygen to the tissues. It is a major genetic disease in the entire African region. Let’s discuss more and educate the public about the many ways of helping Africa with a better health care system!!!

    Sickle cell disease can be prevented if partners do a blood test before conception takes place!

    Sickle cell disease is a chronic disease that affects many black communities. One of the ways to avoid it altogether is to be informed on taking blood & genotype tests prior to sexual activity that’s meant for conception & birth.The blood test will reveal the sickle cell status that will help you make an informed decision on whether to have children together especially if both tests come out as SS( sickle cell disease ) +SS! Therefore, it is strongly advised against because 100% chances of having a child with a full blown out sickle cell disease is very high when it could have been avoided! It can be very sad if you love your partner and then have to let them go because of this. But remember the pain of the future in raising that child together while you both are struggling to stay physically & mentally strong too!
