Laura Gassner Otting is an instigator, a motivator, and never met a revolution she didn't like. Her podcast goes one step further than interesting conversations with interesting people who do interesting things. LGO and her guests push listeners to the edge of discomfort with thought-provoking conversations everyone needs to hear. LGO spent 20 years interviewing people not just about what they do and how they do it, but why they do it. She is endlessly intrigued by the human story, by that moment where each of us discovers something more inside of us, the thing that sets us apart and sets us on our path. And, frankly, with all this social isolation, she's dying to talk to more people. What's going to be different about this? Laura doesn't mess around and doesn't make small talk. You will not be bored with rehearsed "bits" that come as answers to rote questions.Tune in and be prepared for LGO's kick-in-the-ass wrapped in a warm hug.

I HATE SMALL TALK

Laura always starts her interviews with, "I hate small talk," and I completely agree! So many podcasts are shallow conversations, talking about the guest's latest book but nothing of substance. Laura's conversations are deep, real, and thought provoking. She has a gift with putting her guests at ease and I often forget that it's an interview, not a coaching session. I'm loving this podcast!

not your average interview podcast

Laura's selection of guests and her rapport with them makes this an enjoyable, insightful, and enlightening show. I usually shy away from podcasts that are an hour long, but this flies by, as if you were sitting with Laura and her guest just chatting about real things, some important things but also some normal-life things. You'll learn. You'll be inspired. If one doesn't do it for you, give another episode a listen.

Cutting to the Truth

If you find yourself quickly losing interest in the surface level conversations hawking books and programs that usually fill the podcast channels, then you are in for a treat.

Laura’s interviews are real, raw, and cut to the truth.

I love her way of getting her guests to be comfortable coming to the table to share their stories, explore their ideas, and leave it all there for us to think about with them.
