While most University students realize how bleak life’s prospects can be without a college degree, some have a difficult time answering the fundamental question, “Why am I here?” The good news is that even in today’s complex, competitive world, there are answers. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi calls it “flow”. Ken Robinson refers to it as “the Element” – the place where the things you love to do and the things you are good at come together. Martin Seligman calls it the “Good Life”, where an individual’s “signature strengths” are used to achieve fulfillment in the main areas of life. Drawing upon the work of Seth Godin, Tony Hsieh, Ken Robinson, Daniel Pink, Juliet Schor, Christopher Peterson, Stuart Brown, and others, these podcasts support a course designed to help students use higher education as a means to discover their passions.

    Life Design - Daniel Pink

“I was born on the American east coast. Then I was reared (that's the word we use) in the American Midwest -- where I enjoyed a steady diet of team sports, public libraries, and 70s sitcoms. After punching my ticket at a few outposts of what was once called ‘higher education,’ I went to work, got married, and had kids.”
Daniel H. Pink is the author of four provocative books about the changing world of work — including the New York Times bestsellers, A Whole New Mind and Drive, which together have been translated into 28 languages. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and their three children
