Life Notes

Megan Marie

Life Notes is a voicenote style podcast for thoughtful people in the middle of figuring things out about themselves, their relationships, and what really matters. Hosted by Megan Marie, Life Notes offers short, honest reflections that feel more like a voice memo to a friend than a performance. These are the things that don’t make it to Instagram. The unfiltered thoughts, soft questions, and little bits of clarity that show up while brushing your teeth, walking to the coffee shop, or sitting in the sun. It’s for the ones who feel deeply, who overthink everything, who are learning to trust themselves again. For the ones outgrowing old versions of themselves and soft-launching new ones. For anyone craving a moment of quiet honesty in a loud world. There’s no theme music or polished advice. It's just a place to slow down and listen in. Always raw and always real.

When to Follow Your Heart (and When to Let It Go) - Ep.43

This week I'm sitting with a question I can't shake: when do you follow your heart, and when do you let it go? Between a Sunday morning walk, a hard therapy session, and a week spent noticing I found myself circling the same idea over and over. The conflict that can exist between what our heart desires and what family, religion, or expectation ask of us instead. As a lover myself I talk about why we can't stop telling ourselves tragic love stories and what it means to take my own self-care as seriously as I ask my clients to. Key Themes: The pull between following your heart and honoring expectation, family, or fear Why we're drawn to tragic love stories Taking therapy and self-care seriously as the foundation for doing meaningful work Making space for the small things you love before the season slips by What it really means to live fully  vulnerability, rawness, honesty, and courage and the ruthlessness of your heart Work With Me: My coaching practice is a space to look more closely at your own life, relationships, identity, health, sexuality, and the things you’re working through. My approach is integrative and deeply personal to you, with the goal of helping you understand yourself more clearly and create a life that feels aligned with who you are. I'd love to work with you! Reach out anytime to start a conversation.  Common Confidential: Common Confidential is my line of intimate wellness essentials created to make intimacy feel a little easier, slower, and more intentional. How to Exercise Without Exhausting Yourself - Ep. 42

How do you make exercise a consistent part of your life without feeling like it takes over your schedule or leaves you depleted? In this episode, I’m answering a listener question about finding the right balance between movement, energy, and everything else we have to do in a day. I talk about looking more closely at how we actually spend our time, choosing forms of exercise that support rather than exhaust us, and why sleep, nutrition, and recovery are all part of the conversation. It’s doing more, but about finding a realistic and efficient approach to movement that fits your life. Key Themes • Finding time for exercise in a busy schedule • Using a “reverse planner” to see where your time goes • Exercise should generally leave you feeling energized, not depleted • Why harder and more intense doesn't always mean better • Building a simple routine around walking, strength training, and mobility • Making movement fit into the life you already have • Why consistency and effectiveness matter more than quantity Work With Me: My coaching practice is a space to look more closely at your own life, relationships, identity, health, sexuality, and the things you’re working through. My approach is integrative and deeply personal to you, with the goal of helping you understand yourself more clearly and create a life that feels aligned with who you are. Authenticity: Not a Buzzword, but a Way of Living #41

I think a lot about what it actually means to live authentically, especially when who you are today looks very different from who you were a few years ago. And in a space where authenticity has become a buzzword. This episode is really reflective of my own evolution, the experiences that have shaped me, and what it means to let those experiences become part of my wisdom. I also talk about a personal balance between vulnerability, privacy, what I share publicly and allowing what feels aligned to change as we change. How do we find balance to ensure the life we’re presenting to the world feels true to who we are now. Key Themes: • Letting your experiences change you instead of collecting them • Authenticity as something that evolves with you • Recognizing when something that once felt aligned no longer does • Balancing vulnerability, openness, and privacy • Finding meaning and wisdom in the things you’ve lived through • Looking honestly at where you may be holding back • Giving yourself permission to change your mind and become someone new Work With Me: My coaching practice is a space to look more closely at your own life, relationships, identity, health, sexuality, and the things you’re working through. My approach is integrative and deeply personal to you, with the goal of helping you understand yourself more clearly and create a life that feels aligned with who you are. I'd love to work with you! The Book Club I Wanted, So I Made It - Ep.40

This episode is all about something I've quietly wanted to create for a long time and it's finally come to fruition. After a chaotic week and a reminder of how much I value slower, more reflective moments, it somehow felt like the right time to finally start. In this episode, I share why I’ve always been drawn to the idea of a book club, what I want this one to feel like, and how it’s really just an extension of the work I already do. I also introduce our first book, Fear of Flying, and talk through why it felt like the perfect place to start, with themes of becoming, curiosity, sexuality, self-discovery, and the tension between who we are and who we’re expected to be. This isn’t about reading for the sake of it. It’s about reading things that stay with you, shift something, inspire you to live bold and more truthfully and think about life a little differently.  Key Takeaways: The idea of book club as something inspiring, reflective, and shared Choosing books that encourage truth, honesty, and becoming Why Fear of Flying is the first book The tension between social expectations and self-trust Curiosity in sexuality and self-discovery Sponsored by: This episode is supported by my coaching practice. Reflection of understanding yourself, your patterns, your desires, and how you want to live is exactly the work I do with clients. If you’re in a season where you’re questioning things, wanting more, or just trying to come back to yourself, this is a space where we can work through that together in a way that’s personalized to you. How to Actually Get Comfortable Being Alone - Ep. 39

Spending time alone can feel peaceful and natural for some of us and truly uncomfortable for others. In this episode, I talk about what it actually looks like to build a relationship with your own company, especially if solitude feels intimidating or unfamiliar. It's not about jumping straight into solo trips or doing everything alone overnight. It’s about starting where you are, pushing yourself gently outside your comfort zone, and learning how to feel safe, confident, and even joyful in your own presence. I share practical ways to begin, how to move through the anxiety that can come up, and why learning to love your alone time is one of the most important ways to build a fuller life. Key Takeaways: Start where you are and build gradually Confidence in solitude comes from practice Fear around being alone is something you can work through Romanticizing your solo time can shift your entire experience Learning to enjoy your own company changes how you show up in every area of life Sponsored by: This episode is supported by my counseling practice. This is the kind of work I do with clients all the time. Helping you move through fear, build confidence, and create a life that actually feels like yours. Whether it’s learning to feel comfortable alone, navigating relationships, or reconnecting with yourself, our work is personalized to you and what you need most. What to Do When You Feel Off, But Can't Explain Why - #38

This is a personal reflection on the feeling of when you’re feeling a little off. We can't always explain it, but it's when your energy feels heavier, your voice feels quieter, and something about you just isn’t lighting up the same way. I talk about noticing when your “sparkle” or magnetism feels like it's missing and how to gently come back to yourself without making it something overly heavy or overwhelming. It's about paying attention, not the pressure of fixing yourself. I share how I’ve been thinking through this in real time and how sitting with emotions matters, but so does finding ways to bring lightness back in. Sometimes it’s small shifts, creativity, music, movement, or simply letting yourself feel and then move forward. Key Themes: What it feels like to lose your “sparkle” or magnetism Sitting with emotions without letting them take over Identifying what feels blocked or out of alignment Small ways to reconnect with your energy Letting you come back naturally Sponsored by: If you’ve been feeling off, disconnected, or like you’re not fully yourself lately, this is exactly the kind of work I support my clients through. My approach blends counseling and coaching in a way that’s grounded and completely personalized to you. We look at what’s actually going on beneath the surface and help you reconnect to yourself in a way that feels real and sustainable. It’s about understanding you, and creating space for you to feel like yourself again. If you’re interested, you can reach out via email or book through my site. #37 35's Birthday Reflections

I turned 35 last week and I'm sharing about the unexpected emotions that came with it. A quiet solo trip turned into something deeper and realizing I’ve stepped into a new phase of life. I talk about the pressure of timelines, especially around things like relationships, family, and what we thought life would look like by now. I also share how I’ve learned to celebrate my birthday in a way that actually feels good for me, and why creating your own experiences matters. There's also an honest PSA about boundaries within my platform. What I choose to share publicly and what I keep private and how navigating a life online requires a balance between openness and self-respect. Sponsored By: If you’re in a season of questioning, shifting, or trying to understand what’s next, this is exactly the kind of work I do with my clients. My approach blends counseling and coaching in a way that’s deeply personal, intuitive, and grounded in your real life. We’re not following a rigid structure. We’re looking at you, your patterns, your emotions, your goals, and figuring out what actually needs to shift. This is a space where you can talk openly, process honestly, and get clear on what direction you want to move in. If you’re interested, you can reach out or just book through my website. #36 You Are Not Replaceable, Even If It Feels Like You Are

In this episode, I talk about a concept that has completely shifted the way I see relationships, self-worth, and comparison. It's the idea that you are not replaceable. This is something I had to really work to understand, especially when navigating fear, jealousy, and insecurity in relationships. It’s easy to feel like someone else could take your place or that you’re comparable to the people around you. But when you really look at it, that’s not actually true. I share how I personally started to unpack this idea, why comparison is so misleading, and how understanding your own uniqueness can create a deeper sense of safety and confidence within yourself and in your relationships. This isn’t just about romantic relationships either. It’s about how you see yourself in friendships, in your work, and in the way you move through the world. When you truly believe that you are not replaceable, it changes how you show up in every area of your life. Key Themes: Why you are not replaceable The danger of comparison  Fear, jealousy, and insecurity in relationships How uniqueness creates safety within yourself Building self-worth through understanding who you are Applying this mindset beyond relationships Sponsored by: If this episode resonated with you, this is exactly the kind of work I do inside my counseling practice. A lot of what I talked about here is self-worth, comparison, relationship dynamics, and emotional processing. These things are really hard to navigate on your own. Having someone to talk to who can help you sort through it with clarity makes a huge difference. My work is integrative and personalized. We look at your relationships, your patterns, your emotional world, and how all of it connects so you can actually understand yourself on a deeper level and move forward in a way that feels right.
