LTO is back for Season 4!
Everybody's Changing and Susie & Esther don't feel the same... At the end of the last season, they thought, we Can't Stop Now! If only they don't Bend & Break, with Perfect Symmetry, they could create Somewhere Only We Know for a very special first episode of the new season. Featuring Jesse Quin from the band, KEANE! Jesse is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and the founder of Old Jet Arts Centre in Suffolk. He chats to the gals about his early life and his supportive parents; how his career started; his experiences on the road with Keane; and answers lots of questions from listeners - thank you so much for sending them in!

Also this ep, there is a surprise visit from the ghost of Derek Acorah; a good old chat about change; comedy sketches; and some singing! It's a bumper ep to launch Season 4 and we're thrilled to be back in your ears. Please share this episode someone you like who'd enjoy it too!

S3:E10 Time for...Being Your Best Self (featuring Rosie Green)

S3:E10 Time for...Being Your Best Self (featuring Rosie Green)

We stand at the end of Season 3 (for an ovation, right?!) This week's episode is all about being your best self and whatever that means to you - one gal's seaswim is another gal's sticky toffee pudding and a good book. Esther & Susie discuss themselves (for a change...) and Susie reveals some worrying gaps in her knowledge of how bodies actually work.
To help them in their quest for best self-dom, S & E enlist the advice of their special guest  - the iridescent Rosie Green. Rosie is a journalist, beauty editor, author, broadcaster and she has spent the last 20 years writing about beauty, fashion, spas and health and interviewing and styling major Hollywood celebrities from Sarah Jessica Parker to Cameron Diaz.  She regularly writes for Red Magazine, The Telegraph, The Times, Vogue and Elle, and up until recently, had her own column in the Daily Mail’s You Magazine. She’s basically Carrie Bradshaw. She is also a regular guest presenter on This Morning.

After her 26 year relationship with her husband ended, without warning, Rosie took her pain and turned it into a best selling book How To Heal A Broken Heart.  A book that has helped many people going through separations feel less alone and more positive about their future.
We talk to Rosie about how she landed her first break at Vogue, working for Trinny and Susannah, the skincare she would recommend and her passion for authentic communication. Rosie glows inside and out and it was a delight to chat to here and learn some fabulous beauty tips. And we all want to know how her David Gandy interview went now...

The sketch this week is musical! And a lot of fun. And you'll hear the final ever (probably) You Bash. We'll be back on May 2nd for Season 4 with new chats, new sketches and more marvellous guests! Can't wait. Ta ra for now.

S3:E9 Time for Nostalgia: the 80s Edition (featuring Andrew Roachford)

S3:E9 Time for Nostalgia: the 80s Edition (featuring Andrew Roachford)

Esther and Susie go Back to the Future and get high on 80s nostalgia in this week's episode of LTO. There are no Careless Whispers as these Uptown Girls try Holding Back the Years, and Relax with memories of the decade that gave us Roland Rat, Wacaday and Agadoo. Let's travel back in time Together In Electric Dreams. Lovely jubbly.
The gals are joined this week by a very special guest. Singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music legend Andrew Roachford MBE @roachfordmusic scored his first hit in the 80s with his band, Roachford and the timeless classic, Cuddly Toy. He hasn't stopped producing incredible music and released his most recent solo album in December 2023. Andrew also sings with Mike and the Mechanics. He received his MBE in 2019 for services to music. He chatted to E&S about music as communication; how he composes; and what it felt like to hang out at Buckingham Palace, and to perform in front of thousands at Wembley. It's a heartfelt, open and honest conversation, with plenty of giggles and a surprise guest appearance from his lovely mum's phone! It's treat to be in Andrew's company. Look out for live dates coming up later this year - roachford.co.uk
With a sketch that will take you back, and a social media roundup of the most responses we've ever had (even though none of our listeners are old enough to remember the 80s...), this 'Nostalgia' special is Atomic and we hope you'll say I've Had The Time of My Life once you've heard it and a 'lorra lorra laughs'

S3:E8 Time for...Talent (featuring Sam Sweeney)

S3:E8 Time for...Talent (featuring Sam Sweeney)

In this week's episode Esther & Susie showcase talents even they didn't know they had. And they probably don't. Let's just say, Eminem does NOT need to worry... They discuss talent v success, and if baby is born with it or if it's maybe-learnt. Again, Eminem does not need to worry!
Thankfully someone with a tangible talent is their special guest this week. Namely, musician Sam Sweeney. Sam has been described as 'one of the defining English fiddle players of his generation' (Mark Radcliffe) and this was cemented when he won Musician of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award in 2015 - his fourth time of being nominated. He is a veteran of folk juggernauts, Bellowhead, former and inaugural Artistic Director of the National Youth Folk Ensemble, a founder member of ground-breaking trio Leveret as well as a passionate and experienced educator. He has collaborated, recorded and performed with The Full English, Eliza Carthy, Martin Carthy, Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings, Fay Hield and Emily Portman as well as creating his own theatre production Made In The Great War. Sam’s first two albums, The Unfinished Violin (Island Records) and Unearth Repeat (Hudson Records) were received with international acclaim. Sam is currently touring his third solo album, Escape That - tour dates.
Sam's chat with the gals is wide-ranging and hugely entertaining. He tells them about joining the biggest folk band in the world aged 18, and how it feels to rock (folk) out at the Royal Albert Hall. He talks about his experiences in movies - Disney's live action 'Little Mermaid', and Richard Curtis's 'About Time'. There are some super questions from our wonderful listeners, and, as an extra treat, Sam performs live on the podcast! LTO's first live musical performance and it is magical. (Sam is available to tour when you need him, Arcade Fire - just putting that out into the universe!)
With sketches, live music, surprising rapping and a joyful interview, this is an episode to savour. We hope you enjoy it!

S3:E7 Time for...Contemplating Grief (featuring Sarah Gwonyoma)

S3:E7 Time for...Contemplating Grief (featuring Sarah Gwonyoma)

TRIGGER WARNING: This episode includes discussions about death and grief.
This week Susie & Esther turn their attention to mortality. They discuss attitudes to death and mourning, and spend considerable time imagining the spectacular nature of their own funerals. Let's hope the Royal Albert Hall is available on the day...
The special guest is SARAH GWONYOMA. You may know Sarah from her Instagram platform, @WhatSarahReadNext, where she reviews books, interviews authors and generally brings a lot of joy. The catalyst for this platform were some unimaginably painful life changing events. In 2017, whilst living in Fiji with her husband and young son, Sarah, having just suffered a twin miscarriage, lost her brother and her husband both unexpectedly, just months apart. Follow this up with a global pandemic and this led to Sarah reevaluating her life and her work in International Development. Now Sarah is back in the UK and living by the coast with her son, and What Sarah Read Next is an inspiring community for book lovers. Sarah is also working on her own book and has just launched her book club WHAT WE READ NEXT in association with the Hastings BookshopThe gals talk to Sarah about her resilience and positivity, how she has taken care of herself and her son through these experiences and the plans she has for her community. She's an inspiring woman and it's an honour to welcome her to LTO.
With Sarah's energy, plus sketches, laughter and the promise of a sea swim, this episode is far from bleak. We hope you enjoy it.

S3:E6 Time for...Radio Classics (featuring Steve Lamacq)

S3:E6 Time for...Radio Classics (featuring Steve Lamacq)

The radio accompanies us through our lives. Helping to define our eras; dragging us out of bed on a Monday morning; helping us through long drives; and becoming almost family! We grow up with our favourite radio DJs, following them as they move stations. And we jump around the dial depending on our mood. This week’s episode is dedicated to all of this.
Susie and Esther recreate DESERT ISLAND DISCS, subtly re-titled, SANDY ISLAND RECORDS... And the sketch is an homage to the radio. See if you can name the radio stations referenced!
The special guest this week is a Radio Classic himself. The legendary BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music DJ, STEVE LAMACQ. Steve wanted to be a DJ from a very young age and didn’t imagine that it could actually happen! After a spell refereeing Under-12s football matches, journalism beckoned! He talks Esther and Susie through his early career and the dedication that has led to his position as the most respected DJ on radio. He also discusses his love of a certain radio drama! Steve is as fascinating as you’d imagine and his interview is a treat to listen to.

Hilarious

You know it is a funny podcast when you are laughing out loud when listening while packing to move! Esther and Susie have a nice and friendly banter - never negative to each other and infinitely relatable. I found the podcast because I listen to a radio drama Susie stars in (okay, maybe not the STAR but darned close). I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who wants some laughter to make their day.
