Stephen Phillip Harvey’s works sit squarely at the intersection of popular culture and jazz. In his latest Octet project, Stephen explores the elements on a composition he calls Elemental.

The Stephen Phillip Harvey Octet performs this suite of six original compositions to bring his original interpretation of these elements and the balance they create. Fusing modern harmonies, driving vamps, and a myriad of textures, Harvey brings these forces of nature to aural landscape.

From a June 16th, 2023 performance it’s the Stephen Phillip Harvey Octet  - Live at the Bop Stop.

Two Thumbs up for Accessible Listening!

When the pandemic hit, the work groups like BopStop did to keep us all sane with jazz was so incredible, and this podcast has been a huge part of what has kept live jazz accessible in the wake of COVID’s arrival. Their continued turnout of great live performances is a great way to gain exposure to new jazz sounds, making this podcast truly invaluable.

Thanks Live at the BopStop!

Awesome!

I have been missing live shows at the Bop Stop immensely, and this podcast is just what I needed. Very excited for new content and continuing to be able to hear such great music. The only thing it needs is Gabe’s spiel on the history of the Bop Stop at the start of each show and it would feel like I’m practically there.
