Dating Advice: 4 Top Tips to keep you from settling!

Dating Advice: 4 Top Tips to keep you from settling!

In this episode Sara shares her dating wisdom from a lot of experiences where she “settled” and learned the most important thing is to put yourself first. You deserve it all, and the right person is out there waiting for you. The most wonderful relationships occur when two fully formed individuals find each other, and equally give to each other.

Sara also talks about dating while living with her 2 sons who are also dating. There are some similarities, but mostly they have served as reminder to not accept too little.

We want human connection, that’s how we are wired, but often we will accept too little just to have something.

Sara’s 4 tips are the important reminders and filters to be sure you are on track believing in yourself and believing to only accept the best and whole relationship for you.

Her tips: Listen to the episode to get the full advice on each one.

    1.Stop Chasing. Who’s chasing you?
2.When you see something, say something. (when you see a red flag, say something to yourself)
3.Don’t accept in your life what you wouldn’t want your kids to accept in theirs
    4. Bread Crumbs are for Birds.

Keep these tips close and refer back if you find yourself slipping. Value yourself and find someone that values themselves and YOU.

    We believe in YOU!

Anxiety and the Road to PEACE: Some how-to’s

Anxiety and the Road to PEACE: Some how-to’s

Laura Rhodes-Levin, LMFT, therapist and Founder of The Missing Peace Center is author of her new book, THE MISSING PEACE: Rewire Your Brain, Reduce Anxiety, and Re-Create Your Life. Laura wants to help you understand your anxiety, teach you how to work with it and embrace it rather than fear it.

According to Laura, who suffered debilitating anxiety for many years, “Anxiety is not what's wrong with you. Anxiety is what’s right with you. It is an essential survival mechanism. It’s the fight/flight/freeze response in your amygdala, the emotional center of your brain.”

Sara and Laura talk about choosing peace without guilt, finding “micro-joys” in each day and offer practical tools to manage anxiety. They also talk about making sure we can all say “yes” to the question: Did I Live my life to the fullest?
Laura also recently founded the PHEW Foundation, a nonprofit that funds Intensive Outpatient programs for patients in need at The Missing Peace Center for Anxiety.
Laura has served as an expert on psychological issues on several outlets and has been seen on KTLA, Good Day LA, Fox News, KCAL 9, KCBS, KABC, and more.

Just Keep Swimming: USC Water Polo Team goes to the Grand Canyon

Just Keep Swimming: USC Water Polo Team goes to the Grand Canyon

Sara’s son is co-captain of the USC Water Polo Team. The coach asked Sara to lead an adventure for the team into the Grand Canyon, as a mom that knows how to do it.
Sara’s solo episode talks about the experience with her son’s team, and how the team members did on rugged land vs. the familiar swimming pool.

It’s a wonderful journey into teams, individuals, support, going the distance, and the help of a remarkable leader who knows when the very tired team needed some soup with much needed salt, which they termed “magic soup”. ( it was Liptons basic soup!)

Then with new wind in their sails they carried on with some renewed energy. But Sara saw quite a few of them lose trust that they could finish, feel like they couldn’t make it any further, but she witnessed amazing support for one another. They used their water polo team encouragement and helped each get to the finish line.
As one of the said, “Just keep Swimming” which is the perfect metaphor for life, whether on the Grand Canyon climb, the sports team, or whatever you may be going through.

And when things get tough, as Sara told the team “break it down into small steps”, call on resilience and problem solving, and remember to feed yourself: food, water, or encouraging words.

Resilience and Getting Your Smile Back!

Resilience and Getting Your Smile Back!

Sara talks with Seth Eliot Santoro, author, speaker, coach, HR Advisor, Intuitive, about losing your smile and finding it again. They talk about resilience and finding joy.
By the time he was thirty-two years old, Seth has already cheated death three times, narrowly escaped two kidnappings, and lost five good friends within a very brief period of time. Being ill-prepared for these events, he searched to find a resource that would help him, to no avail. So, instead, he developed the S.M.I.L.E. method for healing and wrote the first book in a series, “Smile From The Inside!” a book on healing and overcoming trauma in this crazy modern world. Seth then wrote the second book in that series, “From Grief to GRACE,” and developed the G.R.A.C.E. method for healing your past traumas/challenges once and for all. He thought if these concepts could work for him, then they might just work for someone else.
He and Sara go over the S.M.I.L.E approach and also his G.R.A.C.E steps. These help people struggling from grief, whether from divorce, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, whatever it may be.
They talk about re-framing your mind, re-engaging in the present, finding happiness again, AND creating a better legacy, future, and fulfilling life.

Belong to yourself first vs. Fitting In with Sara

This podcast is about the importance of belonging to yourself first and foremost, rather than “fitting in” with others. To thine own self be true is truly the truth and the real path to being truly happy, content and at peace. All other things you attract will be better for it.

Sara gives 10 tips to keep you on track to belonging to yourself first.
Here are a few of them as numbered in Sara’s episode, listen to the podcast for all 10. It is truly worth it!

    1. Authenticity. What do you love to do? And do you practice what you preach?

    2. Find your tribe.

    5. Communicate with Honesty

    6. Set Boundaries. And stick to them.

    9. Be self-compassionate. We can be our own worse critics. Give yourself some love and forgiveness.

Start being aware of these steps and build a practice of incorporating them each and everyday. Soon, it will be second nature. Let us know how you are doing!!

Johnny Crowder: Suicide and Abuse survivor creates Copenotes to help others in need

Johnny Crowder: Suicide and Abuse survivor creates Copenotes to help others in need

Johnny Crowder is a suicide/abuse survivor, TEDx speaker, Billboard-charting heavy metal musician, and the Founder & CEO of Cope Notes, a text-based mental health platform that provides daily support to youth and adults in nearly 100 countries around the world. Armed with a decade of clinical treatment, a psychology degree from the University of Central Florida, and 10+ years of peer support and public advocacy through the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Johnny’s youthful vigor for mental health has impacted millions of lives across the globe.
Johnny and Sara discuss mental health, Johnny’s personal experiences, how after 25 years of abuse Johnny navigates determining who he really is, shares learned experiences with others, and created an important company that helps others going through mental struggles.
Johnny knows how important it is to find help with one’s mental health. When he couldn't find a way to maintain his own help on a daily basis, he decided to invent one. As a suicide/abuse survivor, he spent his formative years searching for resources to help him cope with his mental health conditions, ranging from OCD and bipolar disorder to schizophrenia. He wanted to combine the neuroscience principles he learned about in school with the power of peer support that changed his life in treatment.
In 2017, he began sending unsolicited psychology facts, journaling prompts, and exercises to friends via text message. The response was so positive that he opened it up to the public, and the rest is history

First time listener! ,

Powerfully Positive

I’m not the most earnest person (in all honesty, earnestness always feels a little sus). But Sara is brimming with such genuinely positive energy that I’m totally won over. And she always draws the best insights out of guests!

Live in the 2%

Absolutely loved this episode!!!! Just listened to your podcast with Joan while walking a trail near my house! It’s crazy how the universe works! I’m Joan!!! I’m in HR, scared of heights, I have been living in my controlled bubble, I was fun and adventure ! I want to launch a new business but I’m afraid of letting go. I encourage and want to help others grow but can’t give myself that freedom! Journaling is a struggle for me, trust is really hard and it’s like you are wanting to break me free of everything that is holding me back! The common denominator is that the only thing holding me back is me! I want to learn to live in the 2%!

I didn’t pass out on the TEDx stage

I absolutely adore this episode! All of your episodes are inspiring and encouraging, but the quote I love the most from this episode was (regarding opportunities ) “If they are there for you they are meant for you, If they come into your life it's meant for you to receive”. Just beautiful!!
