Ep 5 w/ Dr. Celene Ibrahim
In this episode, I had the honor of speaking with Dr. Celene Ibrahim.
She has degrees from a variety of institutions including Brandeis, Princeton, and Harvard. She received a Master's in Women's and Gender Studies and Near Eastern and Judaic Studies and a Master’s in Divinity. She is the author of Women and Gender in the Qur'an and One Nation, Indivisible: Seeking Liberty and Justice from the Pulpit to the Streets.
Dr. Ibrahim is deeply committed to counteracting bigotry and fostering values of pluralism, integrity, and civic responsibility. She shares her beautiful story and sheds light on some of the lived realities for women in Islam.
InshaAllah this is a means of benefit for you as it has been for me.

Separately, pray with aching hearts for our brothers and sisters in Palestine, in Kabul, in China, and our brothers and sisters around the world who are being oppressed. -
Ep 4 w/ Imam Dawood Yasin
I speak with Imam Dawood Yasin on this episode of Living Muslim.
He was a fashion model who could be seen across Paris billboards and on Vogue fashion spreads. He lived a life of luxury filled with money, travel, and fame.
He left it all after a few near-death experiences and committed himself to Islam. He spent five years in Damascus studying Arabic, Islam, and spirituality after which he went on to study at a variety of institutions here in the US including Darthmouth mA.
He now serves as Director of Student Life & Instructor of the Experiential Learning Program at Zaytuna College.
Imam Dawood mentions a few resources during this episode that we can use to help educate ourselves; I've included the links below.

Ep 3 w/ Sheikh Faiyaz Jaffer
I'm joined by Sheikh Faiyaz Jaffer for this episode of Living Muslim.
He serves as the Research Scholar for the Islamic Center at New York University, an Associate Chaplain at NYU, and an Adjunct Professor at NYU’s School of Public Service; he’s doing all this while also getting a Doctorate in education at NYU.
As a faith leader and social activist, he has lectured at various universities, seminars, and workshops across the globe.
Growing up he was bullied for being Muslim; that was the push he needed to explore faith further.
His journey is inspiring and provides practical advice on how we grow in our faith. -
Ep 2 w/ Sister Inma Zanoguera
In this episode, I'm joined by Sister Inma Zanoguera. At the age of 2, she was adopted along with her sister and her brother and raised in Mallorca, Spain.
At 25, she found out her birth mother was a Sahrawi, a people from the Western Sahara who are under occupation. She journeyed to Western Sahara to learn about her roots; she now serves as an advocate for refugees everywhere, by using her platform to bring light to the refugee experience. She even went on to speak at the UN on behalf of the Sahrawi!
Inma found Islam just two years ago, but she has already developed a beautiful perspective and understanding of the religion. Listen in as she shares her story.
