    Shelby Hartman: Growth as an Embodied Experience (#83)

    Shelby Hartman is co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Double-Blind, a media company at the forefront of the psychedelic movement. She worked in broadcast news production for CBS News, covering presidential elections, protests, natural disasters, and other breaking news. Spurred by a passion for print, she transitioned to magazine writing, working as an editor and receiving her master’s degree in long-form journalism from Columbia University.     Bruce Tallman: Modern Mystics (#82)

    Bruce Tallman has been in private practice as a full-time spiritual director for the past twenty years (since 2002). He works mainly with clergy from every Christian denomination. He also works with laity and with people who are agnostic, atheist or “spiritual but not religious.” He has published two books for professional spiritual directors: Archetypes for Spiritual Direction: Discovering the Heroes Within (Paulist Press, 2005) and Finding Seekers: How to Develop a spiritual Direction Practice from Beginning to Full-Time Employment which is a bestseller in the field of spiritual direction. He has also published two books for the general public: A Thousand Spiritual Lessons: Wisdom and Peace for the Over-Busy, Over-Informed, Over-Worked and Over-Whelmed (an ebook from Kindle Direct Publishing 2021) and God’s Ecstatic Love: Transform Your Life with a Spiritual Masterpiece (Apocryphile Press, 2021). God’s Ecstatic Love is a 21st century commentary on St. Francis de Sales’ 1616 spiritual classic Treatise on the Love of God. The goal of the book is to teach people the most important life-skill of all: how to love God/be a contemplative mystic. From 1988 to 2002 Bruce was the director of two adult religious education centers for the Roman Catholic Diocese of London, Ontario, Canada. As part of that ministry, he helped couples prepare for marriage and continues to do so. Since 1988 to the present, he has facilitated marriage preparation courses with almost 4000 couples. Bruce has a Doctor of Ministry degree in Spiritual Direction from the Graduate Theological Foundation and hundreds of his articles on spirituality, theology, ethics and religion have been published. He is also an adjunct faculty member of the Haden Institute for Spiritual Directors Training and is on the board of “Christian Spiritual Directors” (formerly known as the “Canadian Fellowship of Christian Spiritual Directors”).     Jeff Kober: Embracing Bliss (#81)

    Jeff is an Emmy Award-winning actor currently recurring on the shows Big Sky and NCIS: LA and General Hospital. Other acting work includes Debra Granik’s Leave No Trace, Sully, directed by Clint Eastwood, and many credits over his years in the business. Jeff has been a teacher of Vedic Meditation since 2007, working from his home in Studio City and elsewhere around the globe.     Yes, You CAN Meditate (#79)

    Meditation can be easier than you realize. In my latest episode of Love, Service, Wisdom I share with you my tips, tricks and understandings that can help make the art of concentration accessible to you too 😌. ⁠ Despite your mind's busy chatter, which we *all* have, let me assure you that you are not 'bad' at meditation. It just takes practice, like when you are building any muscle. Returning again and again to the object of your focus, whether your breath, sensations, a mantra, an image or activity *is* meditation. And the more you do it the easier it becomes, slowly over time. A few minutes is more than zero and the skill will builds with consistency.⁠ ⁠ And guess what?! Meditation doesn't have to be sitting quietly in a cave with your eyes closed. It can be dance, cooking, surfing, running, yoga, art, playing, reading, listening - literally anything that creates a singular point of focus for your attention.
