    Welcome Back to Make Mine Multiversity: A Marvel Podcast! Each episode we’ll be looking at Marvel books, old and new! We discuss fun Marvel comics, Marvel news, Marvel history and, now, are putting the "mine" back into Make Mine Multiversity.  For those who're new, each month I talk with a guest about a Marvel comic that's memorable to them. Sometimes they're personally meaningful, sometimes it's "I read this a few months ago and its still sticking around." This month I welcome back to the show, after quite a few years, Joe Skonce! A friend and former reviewer for Multiversity Comics, he picked a comic I was so excited to revisit: "Fantastic Four" (2022) #1-6 aka the start of the Ryan North run. We've got science! We've got goofy antics! We've got body horror! We've got Johnny Storm's glorious mustache. Oh, and point of order. North's big science degree is in Computer Science, not physics, so...close enough I guess?     Welcome Back to Make Mine Multiversity: A Marvel Podcast! Each episode we’ll be looking at Marvel books, old and new! We discuss fun Marvel comics, Marvel news, Marvel history and, now, are putting the "mine" back into Make Mine Multiversity.  For those who're new, each month I talk with a guest about a Marvel comic that's memorable to them. Sometimes they're personally meaningful, sometimes it's "I read this a few months ago and its still sticking around." This month I welcome on Colleen Venable to discuss a comic I vaguely knew existed but didn't realize how much of it there was: "Alf." From sitcom star to comics "hero," it's everyone's favorite Melman. The two issues Colleen chose were, thankfully for me, X-men related. I'm not going to try to do any of the puns Alf is known for. I think it might do my head in. For some bonafides, Colleen is a comics writer and former designer for First Second Books. She's written "Kiss Number 8," the "Katie the Catsitter" series and is now writing the "Junie B. Jones" adaptations with art by Honie Beam (oh hey, there's an interview about that.) This month I welcome on Hans Buetow and his brother Jesse Buetow to discuss the Ur-superhero event "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars" #1-12 from 1984. Yes, that is the full title. For some bonafides, Hans is an award-wining audio producer who has been working in sound, music, and audio recording for 20 years. Jesse is a teacher and he's happy that's all there is to know.     Welcome Back to Make Mine Multiversity: A Marvel Podcast! Each episode we’ll be looking at Marvel books, old and new! We discuss fun Marvel comics, Marvel news, Marvel history and, now, are putting the "mine" back into Make Mine Multiversity. Welcome to the first official episode of 2026! I've got some wild episodes for y'all this year. For those who're new, each month I talk with a guest about a Marvel comic that's memorable to them. Sometimes they're personally meaningful, sometimes it's "I read this a few months ago and its still sticking around." This month I'm welcoming on letterer extraordinaire Clayton Cowles (pronounced like Coals or Kohl's.) We're talking "New Avengers" (2005) #27-37, which I probably said was from 2004 because that's when the first issue was first on stands. But who am I to argue with cover dates and the Marvel Wiki? For some bonafides, Clayton is the Eisner-award winning letterer of so many books. You probably know him from most Kieron Gillen joints: "The Wicked + the Divine," "The Power Fantasy," "Journey Into Mystery," "Eternals" Vol. 5, "Die." Did you know he does both "Batman" books? What about "Star Wars?" "Helen of Wyndhorn?" Thompson & co.'s sadly now ended "Birds of Prey?" So many great books! Next time, we should be reading the original "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars" from 1984! All twelve issues. Get ready for a fun one folks.     Welcome Back to Make Mine Multiversity: A Marvel Podcast! Each episode we’ll be looking at Marvel books, old and new! We discuss fun Marvel comics, Marvel news, Marvel history and, now, are putting the "mine" back into Make Mine Multiversity. After taking a month off to recharge, we're back. For those who're new, each month I talk with a guest about a Marvel comic that's memorable to them. Sometimes they're personally meaningful, sometimes it's "I read this a few months ago and its still sticking around." I'm excited to see where it leads. This month I'm welcoming on our first comics professional with Jeff the Landshark co-creator Kelly Thompson. We're talking "Excalibur" (1988) #42-50. When I say these comics are bonkers, I mean it. Pure comics joy here, folks. For some bonafides, Kelly has been writing comics for the better part of a decade. Her career has taken her from "Jem and Holograms" to "Nancy Drew" and "Sabrina" to indie and creator-owned titles like "Heart in a Box" and "Black Cloak." At the Big 2, she's had a 50-issue run on "Captain Marvel," is wrapping up her "Birds of Prey" run, and crushing it with "Absolute Wonder Woman."     Welcome Back to Make Mine Multiversity: A Marvel Podcast! Each episode we’ll be looking at Marvel books, old and new! We discuss fun Marvel comics, Marvel news, Marvel history and, now, are putting the "mine" back into Make Mine Multiversity. Make Mine Multiversity was a twice-monthly podcast that premiered on the first and third Friday of every month. Now we're shooting for monthly every fourth Friday (though we may skip October.) We've got a new format to go with the new schedule! Each month, Elias will be talking with a guest about a Marvel comic that's memorable to them. Sometimes this will be personally meaningful, sometimes it'll be "I read this a few months ago and its still sticking around." I'm excited to see where it leads. This month we're kicking it old school to welcome back Jaina and Kevin to discuss everyone's favorite despot (this feels way too glib for the moment) teaming up with everyone's favorite a*****e doctor in the Marvel graphic novel "Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment."     Welcome Back to Make Mine Multiverse City: A Marvel Podcast! Each episode we’ll be looking at Marvel books, old and new! We discuss fun Marvel comics, Marvel news, Marvel history and, now, are putting the "mine" back into Make Mine Multiverse City. Make Mine Multiversity was a twice-monthly podcast that premiered on the first and third Friday of every month. This month, we're welcoming my good friend and former Chief Manager at Large (don't call him EIC) of Multiversity Comics, Brian Salvatore, to the podcast to read "Fantastic Four" #347-349, published in late 1990. It's the one about the skrulls. And the mole man. You know the one. Oh, and I think The Punisher shows up? I should also mention we totally beefed it while talking about legacy characters. How could we have left off Miles Morales?! He's the example of a legacy character with staying power (kinda. Sorta. 616 monkey-wrenches the whole thing.) In our defense...okay, there's no good defense besides "whoopsie." Next time, a couple familiar voices join us as we tie-in with "One World Under Doom" and talk "Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment." Reading along with us? You've got options!
