    Hello honey, I'm home!

In this week's episode, we are starting with a coherent breathing exercise. I know it's been a minute (or maybe you've been binging and I'm right on time for you!) so I will explain how beneficial these exercises can be for your mental health. Coherent breathing helps to reduce stress and anxiety in the body.

Afterward, I talk about why I have been away for so long. Funny, this was meant to be a short episode but here we are. Even in the midst of me making excuses for myself, I've found a way to stay true to the pod and sprinkle a couple of gems I hope you pick up on. Tune in for more!

    18 Languages for Modern Love

    18 Languages for Modern Love

Have you ever taken the 5 love languages quiz but it didn't resonate with you? I just might have the solution you didn't know you needed!

In this week's episode, we are starting with a full-body scan guided meditation. Body scan meditations are a great way to reduce anxiety, improve your sleep, increase your lovingkindness for yourself, and reduce pain.  Even if you don't think those benefits relate to you, body scans are a great way to stay mindful and connected to your body.

Afterward, I share a version of the love languages that are more inclusive and open to all types of relationships. These are referred to as the 18 Love Languages for Modern Love created by certified sex and relationship educator Anne Hodder-Shipp. I know jumping from 5 languages to 18 seems like more work but once you listen to the breakdown and reasoning for this updated version, you're going to be as floored as I was!

    Nonjudgmental Thinking Revisited

    Nonjudgmental Thinking Revisited

How often do you label your thoughts and situations as good or bad? For me, it's all the time. What if I told you that'd considered judgmental thinking, but there's a way to practice nonjudgmental thinking? I have a Taoist story that I want to share that will help put things in perspective.

In this week's episode, we start with a boxed breathing exercise that sharpens concentration and reduces stress. This breathing technique follows the 4-4-4-4 breathing model where you breathe in for four seconds, hold for four seconds, breathe out for four seconds, and hold for another four seconds. This rhythmic breathing exercise is known to regulate body temperature and lower blood pressure.

Afterward, I share a Taoist story that reminded me about the importance of nonjudgmental thinking. Back in Episode 44 of this podcast, I talked about nonjudgemental thinking basics and how we label our thoughts as good or bad. In this episode, we will be directing our attention to how we categorize events that happen in our lives as "good" or "bad." To clarify, the goal is to stop placing those traits on events and start taking them in for what they are. In my mind, they are all lessons to learn from.

    Ramadan Mubarak 2021!

    Ramadan Mubarak 2021!

Have you ever wondered what Ramadan is about or what happens during that time? I've wondered the same and decided to put my google skills and resources to use!

In this week's episode, we start with a guided meditation where you use your imagination to get to the basin of peace. When you do this meditation, it's recommended that you set 10min of uninterrupted time aside so you can receive the full benefits of this meditation. As always, take a deep breath and relax...

Afterward, we get into details about Ramadan and my connection to the holiday. Ramadan is a holiday celebrated by Muslims to get closer to God through prayer and do good to humanity. In this episode, I will share a brief history of Ramadan, how it's celebrated, why it's celebrated, and how we can support those who celebrate it.

It's Never Too Late to Start Something New

It's Never Too Late to Start Something New

Have you been thinking about starting something new but can't push go? I understand what that feels like and have found it easier when I finally take my foot off the brake. Allow me to offer 4 reasons why it's never too late to start something new! These reasons aren't so profound that you couldn't think of them yourself, but I do provide personal experiences/examples that show if I can do it, you can too!

In this week's episode, we are starting with a breathing exercise that focuses on balance. This breathing technique follows the 4-2-4 breathing model where you breathe in for four seconds, hold for two seconds and breathe out for four seconds. This breathing exercise focuses on the balance due to the breathwork pattern that causes your blood to flow away from and toward your lungs. Give it a try and see how this breathing exercise works out for you.

Afterward, I share four reasons why it's never too late to start something new. I've had moments where I wrestled with the concept of starting over, and it automatically exhausted me. What part of turning around and starting from the beginning sounds appealing? Trust me I get it. It doesn't start to truly feel worth it until you make that change and see a difference. Ultimately, you won't really know until you try it.

Introducing Quarterly Book Review: Coming of Age Edition

Introducing Quarterly Book Review: Coming of Age Edition

Who doesn't love a good book recommendation? I know I do! I want to introduce you to a new segment that will premiere every 3 months. I will choose books that I read to share with you. In doing so, I can highlight all of the outstanding books I read. I'm a major book worm so there's always a book I'm reading, this designated segment will let me share some really good books 🤗

Afterward, the Quarterly Book Review is introduced. This segment is (to me) the best of both worlds; I get to share some fun reads while also sharing the lessons I got out of them. This wasn't purposeful but 2/3 books fit in the coming of age genre. These books are also books that were recommended by BookTok (the book readers of Tik Tok) and even though the books recommended can be hit or miss, these are all hits! Tune in to find out why.
