I honestly can say that ManCamp has and continues to impact my walk with the Lord in huge ways. Often in Christian circles anything to do with men ministry ends up being about this heroic warrior for the Lord and has little to do with the struggles we all have. It’s become the reason that I’ve distanced myself from a lot of “men’s ministry” type things. I almost did that with this podcast.

It’s an honest look at Christian life as men and how we need each other to traverse through life and really to be seen and known by each other and God.

I grew up when Wild at Heart was very huge among Christian circles. Except the circles I was in told me that if you didn’t enjoy the outdoors and rugged and wild that you weren’t masculine. So I was led to believe that I wasn’t masculine because of that and that there was something wrong with me. So in the process of reclaiming my identity, I had to come against a lot of those lies. So that made me a verbal opponent of Wild at Heart and John Eldridge. So when I saw an episode with his name attached to it, I was anxious. But listening to it allowed me to listen to the message of Wild at Heart with fresh ears and a moldable heart. Where it changed my whole opinion of the book and John.

But where I was impacted the most was with the episode with Banning. As a more emotional person I’m comfortable with being vulnerable but hearing Banning speak on isolation I wept because I realized that even in being very comfortable with my emotions I’ve still chosen isolation. I walk around in a state of hope deferred because I’ve bought into the lies of the enemy about my identity and been terrified to share my dreams with my brothers because what if they never happen. So I was and am stuck in a pattern of sin because I chose isolation. I’m convicted where I know God is prompting me to change and I’m getting brothers I know to listen so that we can begin a dialogue and speak the same language. Where God can continue to do a greater work in my life.

I rolled my eyes when I heard the tag line in the intro about being fully alive. But now it is a thought that I am wrestling with and praying that I can be fully alive and can be in a community of men that pursue this also.

Thank you for being obedient to the messages God lays out for each episode. They are GOLD!

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PODCAST ENOUGH! YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE!

These episodes are great! I checked out the one with Lisa Bevere, which was so packed with unexpected depth and insight that I walked away with my head spinning, trying to process this new perspective I have on men and myself as a woman. I started listening to other episodes and found them just as filled with great, insightful questions and really honest answers. You will walk away feeling challenged to be a better man (or woman) and this community seems ready to support that journey. Definitely recommended!
