Do you have an alcoholic husband? Married to Addiction is a faith-based podcast that gives the wife of an alcoholic the tools and strength she needs to navigate her husband's addiction without losing herself in the process.

Episode 98: Other Types of Addiction
Obviously we focus mostly on alcoholism here on the podcast because that is the type of addiction that I walked through personally with my husband.
But what about other types of addiction?
How do they differ and how are they the same?
Is there anything that we as wives need to do differently depending on what our husband is addicted to?
We'll talk about all of that in this episode.

Episode 97: Dealing with Triggers
Triggers. As wives of alcoholics we experience them daily. Sometimes even multiple times a day.
They affect us to or core: emotionally, mentally, and many times even physically. (Ever felt sick to your stomach when you realize your husband has been drinking?)
They also affect what we *do*. And sometimes we do things that are not in our best interest because of our triggers.
So in this episode I will give you some best practices for dealing with your triggers.
This is important guidance for every wife of an alcoholic.

Episode 96: Staying Stuck in the Negative
Staying stuck in the negativity of being married to an alcoholic is a place where most wives stay, at least for a while.
I mean, it's understandable....this is a really hard thing to go through. And it's hard not to find yourself drowning in the difficulty of it all.
Problem is that when we stay there it *poisons* us. And the longer you stay there the worse it gets.
But HOW can we not stay stuck in negativity when most everything in our lives feels negative due to our husband's drinking.
I'll offer you some tips on how to do just that in this episode.

Episode 95: The Sound of Silence
Let's talk about silence.
When is it good? When is it bad?
And how can we know the difference?
In this episode I'll talk about the value...and danger...of intentionally using silence in your relationship with your alcoholic husband.

Episode 94: How to Start Making Yourself a Priority
It can feel like the last thing we are concerned about as the wife of an alcoholic....caring for ourselves.
We are usually so caught up in our husband's life that we feel like we just *don't* have the time or energy to worry about us.
But as a result we fall deeper and deeper into a pit of neglect, ending up a shell of our former selves.
And when you add that to all of the emotional trauma we are experiencing in our day-to-day lives it is truly a recipe for disaster.
In this episode we will talk about what 'making yourself a priority' means, what it *is* and what it *isn't*, and I'll give you three simple steps to get you started.

Episode 93: How Long Should You Hold Onto Hope?
Hope.
It feels like all we have sometimes as wives of alcoholics.
And sometimes we don't even have that.
In this episode I will share a shift that you need to make where hope is concerned.
And it's a *really* important one.

Middle of the night miracle
I was at the end of my rope, sobbing on the couch after having it out with my husband in the middle of the night and I found this podcast. I began listening immediately and thought, this is what I need. I felt immediately like I was having a conversation with someone who knew exactly how I was feeling. I love my husband, I love God and so does my husband so THIS was a miracle in the middle of this crazy mess. Thanks!
Great resource for women!
I just discovered this podcast and it’s amazing! Julie has been through it all and her wisdom and encouragement are so uplifting despite my sometimes dark days. I’ve learned do much more than I did in Alanon which is also a great resource. Julie breaks it down to short but essential pieces.
So helpful, and moving!
This has really helped me the last 3 weeks! I was on my last limb standing. I felt alone, like I was going through this alone- although I knew I wasn’t. I was obsessing and my reacting with anger etc. was overwhelming! I’m so glad for this podcast & your the unconditional love and empathy you’ve shown. Thank you, many tears have been shed. In a good way, the Lord nudged my heart and said “Katy, let me take over”- this was a little push in the right direction, for me.
