Eric invites best-selling authors, psychiatrists, scientists, renowned Christian apologists, artists, atheists, and ordinary people in extraordinary situations to address the questions we all have about life, meaning, and the purpose for our existence. Through powerful storytelling and real vulnerability, he pushes as hard against religion as he does against secularism in search of the only thing that matters: truth.

Who Would Jesus Execute? (Part Two)

Who Would Jesus Execute? (Part Two)

When 17-year-old Arthur Medina was charged with capital murder, he was certain that his life was over. But after 15 years in solitary confinement, a strange encounter catapulted Arthur into new life in Christ, as well as a new life outside prison walls. Still, Arthur remains convinced that he deserved to die – and that he is not the only one. In this episode, Arthur’s perspective on the death penalty is accompanied by those of a retired prison chaplain who accompanied a man to his death, an innocent man who spent twenty years on death row, activist Shane Claiborne, and members of the Maybe God community.

    How Worried Should Parents Be?

    How Worried Should Parents Be?

Between school shootings, online predators, bullying, and the raging culture war, it’s hard not to worry about our children. But as veteran counselor and parenting expert Sissy Goff warns, worry is contagious; the over-anxious parent will give rise to an over-anxious child. In this episode, Sissy shares practical tips for breaking this vicious cycle, all of which begin with parents first addressing their own excessive worry.

Who Would Jesus Execute? (Part One)

Who Would Jesus Execute? (Part One)

Those who argue in favor of the death penalty often emphasize capital punishment as a means of justice for victims and their families. But what if those impacted by the crimes in question desire a different kind of justice? Rev. Sharon Risher, daughter of one of the nine churchgoers slain in the 2015 hate crime at Emanuel AME Church, is one of those people. In part one of this series, we hear Sharon’s reasons for forgiving her mother’s killer, even though he’s shown no remorse for his heinous crime. We also hear from Christian anti-death penalty activist Shane Claiborne, who offers a theological exploration of redemption.

    Can Survivors Change the World?

    Can Survivors Change the World?

Annie Alaniz’s world was confined to a poor, rural village in Malawi with limited healthcare and education, until a medical missionary from Texas recognized her potential to reshape the future of her entire community. Thomas Keown’s childhood was marked by a bloody 30-year conflict in Northern Ireland, which sparked a fire in him to give voice to other survivors all over the world. Together, Annie and Thomas are rescuing children from poverty, slavery, and trafficking, begging the question: why does God love to call seemingly insignificant people to accomplish the most significant things?

Replay: Why Trust God When Life Feels Like a Country Song? (feat. Randy Travis)

Replay: Why Trust God When Life Feels Like a Country Song? (feat. Randy Travis)

Randy Travis overcame all odds to become a country music legend, but few people know the whole story. After surviving an abusive childhood and struggling to stay sober and out of trouble as a young man, Randy's determined work ethic and signature baritone voice propelled his meteoric rise to superstardom. In the years that followed, however, his life slowly fell apart, and in 2013, he suffered a stroke that took away his ability to speak, sing, and walk. In this 2020 episode, we ask Randy and Mary Travis how it's possible to keep trusting God when your life feels like a country music song.

Learning to Surrender with Eliza and Ted Edwards

Learning to Surrender with Eliza and Ted Edwards

Eliza and Ted were living a comfortable, country club lifestyle in the U.S. when they felt God calling them to uproot their lives and move their young family to the war-torn Middle East. What started as an 18 month experiment became a 20 plus year journey raising their Christian family in an unpredictable region and learning how to share the Gospel in Muslim-majority communities. In this episode, Eliza and Ted share how faithful God has been as they’ve chosen to surrender. They also offer a unique perspective on the fighting in Gaza, just 40 miles from their current home.

Not traditional

I was pretty excited to listen about a year ago when I first found this podcast, now not so much. I feel its catering more to millennials and maybe deconstructionism. Tim Keller is the real deal. Listen to him if you want the Bible and thoughtful learned grounding in Christianity.
