    Maybe Next Year Episode 23

    Haven't done one of these in a while - but tonight I talked some Minnesota sports with Dave Skogen and Michæl Haas. In our first segment we take a look at the Twins offseason thus far, and kick around some possible free agent or trade targets. Which prospects might be ready to make an impact in 2021, and what might that mean for some of the veterans? Next, we cover some MLB news, and ask if the White Sox are now the favorites in the AL Central. In the third segment, we look back and make some snap judgements on the Vikings season that was, and discuss the ugly start to the Timberwolves season.     Maybe Next Year Episode 22

    It's been a while since we put together a podcast - but tonight Luke Rasmussen and Dave Skogen joined me to discuss the end of the Twins season. We take a look back at what was an eventful regular season, give our thoughts on the difficult end to the playoffs, and discuss the psychological effects of an 18 game postseason losing streak on both the fans and players. In our second segment, we take a look at this coming offseason and debate what direction the Twins front office should go in.     Tonight we got to talk all baseball! Luke Rasmussen and Dave Skogen joined me as we discussed the challenges MLB teams will face in a 60 game season, and what the biggest changes will be for both fans and players this year. In our second segment, we took a look at the Twins, where their pitching staff is at right now, who is most likely to take a step back from their breakout 2019 season, and who needs to have a big year. In our third section, we make our predictions for the year, including who will make the expanded play offs, which team will win the World Series, and who will take home the Cy Young and league MVP awards.     It's been a while since our last show, but tonight Ethan Vobr, Dave Skogen, and Luke Rassmussen joined me to talk about Major League Baseball's failed attempt to come to an agreement for this season. In our second segment, we discuss the Twins recent draft picks. In the third segment we talk about the NBA's return to play plan and if it is feasible.  We then discuss our thoughts on Dalvin Cooks holdout, our memories of the 1998 home run race, and the return of amateur baseball in the SD, ND, and MN.     Tonight Dave Skogen and I got to talk with Luke Rasmussen about the proposed 82 game Major League schedule and what that might mean for a loaded Twins team. In our second segment, we discussed the impact a missed March Madness is having on NCAA sports, and how crippling a shortened or scrapped fall football season would be for colleges across the country. Next, we take a look at some fun "what if" baseball questions, including was Jack Morris's 1991 Game 7 the best pitching performance of all time, is Derek Jeter overrated, how long will the 2017 Astros title be tarnished, and would Barry Bonds be the best player of his generation had he never taken steroids?     Had some fun today as I was joined on the show by Luke Rasmussen and Shea Connot. In our first segment, we look back at the Vikings draft class and to ask if the Packers made a mistake by selecting Jordan Love. In our second segment we discuss if 3 10-team divisions is the solution in a shortened MLB season, and debate if either St. Paul or Sioux Falls would work as a landing spot for the Twins AAA affiliation. In the third segment we take a look at baseballs "unwritten rules," and ask if some need to be amended for the modern game.     Travis Luke Faust joins me and Dave Skogen tonight as we take a look at the upcoming NFL draft, and debate where the Vikings need to go to fill the holes in their secondary and at the wide out position. In our second segment, we talk about what our favorite replay games have been to watch during the last few weeks, and discuss the recent Michael Jordan documentary "The Last Dance." We each share our biggest "What If?" games in Minnesota sports history, and ask what might have been had an outcome gone the other way. In our final segment, we look at the possibility of MLB playing games in Spring Training facilities, and give our bold predictions for the week, including taking a look at the recent success of the Gopher football team in recruiting. In our second segment, we preview the AL Central, and take a look at the Tigers, Royals, White Sox, and Indians.
