    #102: The Things They Don't Tell You About Starting a New Business w/ Kateri Davidson (BONUS: Live Strategy Sesh!)

    Are you thinking about starting your own business, but you're a little nervous about getting blindsided by parts of the process that experts and influencers don't talk much about (aka, the "un-shiny" stuff)? Listen in! Now, if you're thinking, I run a digital business, I don't need the same insights as a physical business... stick with me, because the live strategy session we get into spills some tea that applies to all businesses! We're talking gems that could help your business grow and generate more revenue no matter what kind of business you have. In today's episode, Kateri and I talk about the challenges she and her fiancé, Corey, faced when starting their Massage Therapy practice. This includes some little-known tax processes, business loan blocks, and things to look out for when attempting to lease a space for your business.  These are things that are decidedly un-glamorous parts of starting a business, but are absolutely necessary to consider in any business; physical or not.  To ease the blow, we got into some of the fun stuff toward the end: strategy!  This part will be especially useful if you've been struggling with how you can recapture clients after having to turn them away because your offer isn't quite ready or (best case scenario) it's so popular that you simply don't have the time/space available. That's right, just because you can't work with people right away doesn't mean you can't still provide value to them and create a customer for life in the process! After listening to this episode, you'll walk away with some great ideas for building quality into your business from the beginning, and continuing to create and support quality offers to your clientele. And trying to balance the startup costs by working for someone else WHILE working for yourself. >> [36:00] I did some recon on Kateri’s marketing strategy before the show, and we start to strategize how to recapture potential clients when she can’t accommodate every single person who wants to work with her right then and there. >> [39:15] The problem with relying 100% on social media as your marketing strategy. >> [41:00] Don’t let Imposter Syndrome keep you from taking important steps toward supporting your business!

    #101: A Story About Starting

    Have you ever had an idea for a business but thought, Ugh, that's never gonna work! Yeah, me too...and now the online consulting industry is booming and I regret not getting in sooner. There are things we tell ourselves about what will make a good business and what won't; and that keeps us from starting our own business to begin with. Did you catch that? It's a never-ending cycle of being too scared to start while not having enough experience to know that we'll only ever know once we do start. In today's episode, I take you back to the very beginning of my entrepreneurial journey...when the little seed that it was a real thing I could do was planted in my head. And I reflect on why I should’ve started sooner. I hope that by sharing my story with you, it encourages you to throw that misplaced caution to the wind and just start.
