The 2024 BNM Summit is Coming To Washington D.C.

What better way to kick off the new year than to make an announcement. We’ve been working on our plan for the 2024 BNM Summit for months and I’m stoked to share the news today with the news media industry. In 2023, we had an excellent debut event in Nashville. I recognize that I’m a new face to many in news talk radio and television. For that reason, I wasn’t sure what to expect last time. Would folks make the trip? What would our sponsor support look like? Could I create the right agenda for those in attendance? There were a lot of questions to answer. Judging from the feedback, I think we passed the test. As we talked about the next one and reviewed industry responses, I knew we’d have to raise our game in an election year. We listed New York City, Chicago, Dallas, and Washington D.C. as possible destinations, and all were attractive for different reasons. But we can only pick one, and I’m excited to share that the 2024 BNM Summit is coming to the nation’s capital, Washington D.C.. The dates of the show will be Wednesday September 4th and Thursday September 5th. We’ll have more details leading up to the show. One thing you’ll want to take advantage of now is our special sale on tickets. Our regular price will be $299.99 but for the month of January tickets are on-sale for $199.99. Prices will not be this low after February 1st. We have 250 seats in the venue so it’s first come, first served. When we considered the possibility of bringing the Summit to D.C., we knew it had a ton of benefits. There were great options for speakers, and numerous brands and networks operating locally. Being accessible to politicians, the NAB, and other businesses was also appealing. All that was needed was the right venue with nearby hotel options. Fortunately, we found it. The Jack Morton Auditorium at The George Washington University will serve as our location for September’s show. It’s an awesome venue, which has been used before for high profile events. There’s also great parking and an awesome food court nearby, and it’s close to the main local landmarks. Having 3-4 hotels within walking distance was another advantage. Speaking of which, we’ll have more details on our hotel options soon. The key information to be aware of for now are the dates of the show, and the special January ticket price. We’ll add speakers in the upcoming months and email attendees for insight on what they wish to learn at our next event. We expect this to be a strong conference, and I’m excited to bring the industry together a half a mile away from the White House. If your group sponsored last year’s show or didn’t and would like to, reach out to Stephanie Eads. She has this year’s sponsorship deck now available. We had outstanding support last year, and expect demand for this one to be even higher. Stephanie can be reached at Sales@BarrettSportsMedia.com or 415-312-5553. Eric Von Haessler: I’m Not Gonna Talk About Controversial Topics Just Because They’re Controversial

The battles between Hamas and Israel have been ongoing for nearly two weeks. 95.5 WSB host Eric Von Haessler said he hasn’t spoken much about them, but that also doesn’t mean he’s avoiding the topic, either. During The Von Haessler Doctrine earlier this week, the Atlanta-based host said while listeners might want him to talk more about the conflict, but said that’s not something he’s going to do just because it’s the expectation. “We’re on WSB and we’re talk station and when something like the Middle East thing breaks out, and I talked very little about it. I mentioned it on Friday. And I’ll go into it more today. I’ve just decided the way this country is in love with censorship,” Von Haessler surmised. “The largest topics that happen in society, within 24 hours, there is this guide stylebook that says ‘If you want to be deemed a good person, these are the facts. This is what you say. And here’s a swath that is an area that not only do you not say it, you don’t imply it because we have people on college campuses, who can decipher your words from what you really meant and will tell’.” Eric Von Haessler continued by noting the situation is often a difficult one to guide his career and radio program through. “To me, it’s just like, ‘Jeez, I hope this is an era in the United States of America’. I hope this doesn’t last forever, but I’m going to try to navigate my show in my career through it. So whenever these things come up where somebody somewhere has decided, ‘If you say these things, you’re great, and if you even imply any of these things, you’re the worst person in the world’. For the most part, we’re not going to dwell on those things on the show, because — the word fun is wrong — but even good debate is interesting and compelling. But more and more we are told on certain topics,” Von Haessler revealed. “Even the desiring of a debate says more about you and what you truly are made of than anything you’ll find on the debate. And that’s 100% wrong and it’s anti-American, but you know, it’s where we are.” The post Eric Von Haessler: I’m Not Gonna Talk About Controversial Topics Just Because They’re Controversial appeared first on Barrett Media.

Mike Greenberg returns to ESPN Radio’s airwaves on Monday August 17th, taking over the 12p-2p ET timeslot, a change from his morning routine. Secure with a place in the NAB radio hall of fame, the lead chair on ESPN’s hit television program ‘Get Up‘, and 32,000+ hours of on-air broadcasting under his belt, some in Mike’s position would pass on the chance to increase their work load, and accept a new challenge, but that’s not how Greeny operates. In this conversation, Mike shares what interested him about returning to host a solo midday program, how content will be approached on the show, the method to his madness when it comes to interviewing and teasing, advice he’s passed on to the network’s new morning show, and more. Additionally, BSM President Jason Barrett spends 5 minutes prior to the conversation sharing a few observations, opinions, and questions about ESPN Radio’s changes.
