How to Express Your Most Authentic Self with Shu Matsuo Post - Episode 196

What does it mean to be a man? Shu Matsuo Post may well be a trailblazer for accessing a different understanding of what being a male is. In this episode, Shu and host Ian Lobas discuss the possibilities for societies if we celebrate masculinity and femininity equally.

Author of the book I Took Her Name, Shu has become aware of gender inequality in a very real way. He shares the lessons he learned from the vulnerability he experienced as he went through the process of changing his name in Japan, to incorporate his wife’s last name when they got married.

His journey led him to think about the other manifestations of gender inequality that exist in everyday life across the world. Shu and Ian discuss the metaphorical box that most men seem to be trapped in, limiting them to believe they can only be one specific way, typically strong and successful, with their success measured solely in numbers, and not showing emotions, other than aggression and anger.

They also delve into an exploration of their shared view that it can be freeing for men to know that manhood doesn’t have to be a certain way, as dictated by societal norms. Most significantly, they talk about the powerful force education can be in changing future generations and developing leaders who are more inclusive and help to create a better world for everyone.

Perfect Alignment with Nick Gross - Episode 195

Perfect Alignment with Nick Gross - Episode 195

If you want amazing results in your life and business, you’ve just struck gold! Nick Gross, known as The RV Fit Guy, reveals the extraordinary four-step process that shifted him from someone with zero confidence to a pioneering entrepreneur whose business has grown exponentially.

It’s hard to imagine coming from a loving middle class family, having a decent job and being in a great relationship, only to have everything come crashing down. The night Nick and the love of his life were heading home on a Harley turned out to be the night his life changed. A non-serving choice led to him serving time after losing the woman he loved dearly.

However, he realized that the accident could have killed him, too. He knew he survived for a reason and he was determined to make the most of the second chance he got.

While he was behind bars, Nick had set goals he wanted to accomplish when he got out and that was his focus. He describes how he worked with host Ian Lobas to free himself from the prison of his mind and achieve the goals he had set and more.

In a short time, he put in the work and with Ian’s coaching was able to change his programming. One of the major shifts was changing the way he viewed himself, recognizing that he made a non-serving choice but he didn’t set out to cause anyone harm.

As a result of Ian’s four-step process, he was able to remove the mental blocks that were holding him back, and he found a path that is truly in alignment with him.

    Some topics they discussed include:

1:02:59 - How to have trust and faith in the process

1:07:59 - Why you need to set a date and work backwards to do the work on yourself and your business to hit the goals

1:10:04 - How to surrender and have patience, knowing that the universe will deliver

1:10:25 - The value of waiting for the universe to give you the green light.

    1:13:11 - Everything happens for a reason

1:25:42 - Why it is important to share your vision with everyone

1:26:22 - Celebrate your wins and what you have done

How to Purposefully Shift Your Mindset & Habits in 2021 with Dr. Anthony Balduzzi EP193

How to Purposefully Shift Your Mindset & Habits in 2021 with Dr. Anthony Balduzzi EP193

If you want to change your mindset and habits powerfully and purposefully in 2021, this is the episode for you!

Health and weight loss expert Dr. Anthony Balduzzi is the founder of The Fit Father Project and The Fit Mother Project - the leading health & weight loss programs for busy men and women over 40.

Dr. A, as he is affectionately known, explains that everything we want to do is going to require a desire and consistent action and desire + action requires physical, mental and emotional energy. He provides both a big picture strategy and a practical system that are priceless:

Here are some of the numerous big takeaways:

Steps to develop a morning routine to make your success more automatic the rest of the day

We need to get sunshine in our eyes and on our skin first thing in the morning.

If we intentionally give our mind the inputs that will shape it in the direction we want it to be, we can focus our attention for the day.

Dr. A’s challenge for us to think about how we can be more conscious about creating impressions on our mind for ourselves so we will have the kind of focus and beliefs that will help to direct us for the day.

Get quality hydration first thing in the morning - water with a pinch of pink Himalayan salt and/or trace minerals

Get 5 minutes of motion, preferably outside with sunlight and breathing through your nose in fresh air. We need to move our bodies gently, e.g. going for a walk, bouncing on a rebounder trampoline, five-minute yoga stretch, running outside with your dog.

Try 5 Tibetian rites, which focus mainly on moving the spine. If we improve the spine’s mobility and our blood flow we age better and also get some energetic and calming benefits. Check out the book The Eye of Revelation.

Spend five minutes of time for focused energy, e.g. sit and journal or pray, practise concentration or meditation for a few minutes in the morning.

What’s your first meal of the day? Dr. A recommends you standardize it. It should be rich in vitamins and minerals, should make you feel full but not stuffed and it should be quick, e.g. a fresh juice and a morning shake or it could be eggs and greens.

    Affirmations/Shifting Beliefs

Do you think negative thoughts about yourself? Dr. A explains that negative patterns of thinking have been gained through reactions to past experiences and repetition of these negative thoughts over time. If you want to unlearn a belief you have, find the converse of that belief that will help you succeed, repeat it and feel it.

Close your loops with your evening routine

Dr. A explains that the goal of the evening routine is to wash off the events of the day and get into deeper relaxation to prime for the next day. Anchor your routine with a dedicated space or chair for meditation or journaling before you go to bed.

When you’re done listening, be sure to check out our other amazing shows that provide the tools to help you become who you need to be to achieve your goals, including Construct Your Triangle of Growth and Empowering Yourself by Being Fit.

Men's Optimal Health: The Purposeful Man & Heart-Centered Business Leading The Way with Kent Baklor - Episode 192

Men's Optimal Health: The Purposeful Man & Heart-Centered Business Leading The Way with Kent Baklor - Episode 192

The why behind your business can be a powerful force for changing your life and the lives of others. In this episode, Ian Lobas uncovers the story of Kent Baklor’s success in life and business.

Kent is the founder of the LifeMed Institute, a health and wellness practice in Maryland that is designed to take care of you and your health in unique ways. From gut health to heart and brain health, Kent is passionate about helping you operate efficiently and manage the aging process.

It comes as no surprise to learn that he was a fitness enthusiast from an early age, even though he merely had some old weights at the time. Passion and commitment are a common thread throughout his life.

Even though he left home at the age of 15 and lived in the back of a car in gas stations for two years, he was determined to finish high school and that same determination helped him stick with his business, even when funds were so low that he had to sleep on the floor.

Like many of the other men who have been guests on this podcast, he refused to simply follow the beaten path and he earned success as a result, in spite of the challenges he faced. Kent is an inspiration to anyone who puts their heart and soul into being in alignment with their purpose.

When you’re done listening, be sure to check out our other amazing shows that provide the tools and inspiration to help you get aligned with your purpose, including Finding Your Lifelong Passion and Growing Through the Highs & Lows of Life.

8:53 - How to “act as if”

14:17 - Why we need to monitor what it happening inside and outside of our world (it seems that nothing lasts in the same way forever)

Evidence vs Emotion with Aaron Velky and Ian Lobas - EP 191

Evidence vs Emotion with Aaron Velky and Ian Lobas - EP 191

We all have choices in every moment of challenge or opportunity that we face. In this episode, host Ian Lobas & Aaron Velky discuss how our brain gets wired and how we can rewire it. You’ll learn how your brain registers the experiences that didn’t feel good to you and the feeling you don’t want to have again. The interesting thing is that this also happens in business.

They point out that our past conditioning and programming can control the choices we make in the present, if we let them, and it can also shape our future. Thankfully, Aaron and Ian help us understand the difference between evidence we generate and use to power an emotion versus evidence that is real. An awareness of this difference will drive your success in every area of your life.

This discussion could be the key to figuring out what’s holding you back and preventing you from having all-round abundance.

Listen all the way through because at the end, you’ll get a practical exercise that anyone can do to bridge the gap between what you’d like to achieve and your belief that it is possible.

After leading transformational FrontRunner events, these business partners are well positioned to share the concepts that have helped attendees walk away from the events, knowing that their life has shifted in a purposeful way and clearly understanding their next move.

When you’re done listening, be sure to check out our other amazing shows with Aaron Velky, including Construct Your Triangle of Growth and Goal Setting The Purposeful Way.

Some of the topics they discussed include:

21:50 - How our brains are wired and how to rewire

31:52 - The value of being curious about what other people are experiencing

32:52 - The effect your attitude has on your team
