MP34 - Platypuses of the Summer Hotel

Wherein we discuss Aimee Mann's latest album, Queens of the Summer Hotel. We go pretty deep.

A lot of the discussion was sparked by this article in The Guardian by Laura Snapes:

    https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/nov/04/aimee-mann-any-woman-my-age-is-traumatised-by-growing-up-in-the-60s-and-70s

and this one in Paste by Tom Lanham:

MP32 - Our time is almost up

Well, Jared forgot to do his homework, so here's another Hornby-less discussion. Instead, Jason is wowed by Jared's display of sports knowledge, there's a Tim Burton discussion, and it's determined that Jared owes Jason several hundred dollars for the ensuing therapy session, so please, consider supporting us on Patreon.

Euphing Your Misms Since 2021.

Having not lived in Phoenix for nearly fifteen years, I’m finding this podcast to be a perfect mix of nostalgia and the current state of arts and culture. Jason and Jared have a great chemistry, frequently interrupting one another in their enthusiasm to share their opinions and/or experiences, be it with humor or poignancy, and it’s evident they would be having these conversations with or without an audience; we’re just lucky enough to listen in.

Some of the best conversations occur when they veer away from the traditional box of arts & culture and instead delve into the more personal aspects of their lives, such as the isolation and depression caused by the pandemic, or the guilt felt when spending money on something they don’t need, but still get enjoyment from. They build a connection with their listeners with this, in the same way they do with their jokes about Jared and pop culture or Jared and the google or Jared and Mad About You - and how he’s maybe beginning to sound a little like Paul Reiser. Add in their weekly recommendations of anything from books to movies to apps and it all makes for a very enjoyable weekly podcast that is well worth your time.

I’m A Fan!

I really enjoy listening to these guys chat about all kinds of things. They were great on their “What The Fork” podcast but this takes them to a whole new level. Unrestrained, unedited, sometimes emotional but always enjoyable chat between two guys just trying to make their way in the world. Give them a listen, you will be glad you did.
