    In this episode, we dive deep into the significance of Hoodoo Heritage Month, which is celebrated during the month of October. Here's a short summary of the episode: I explore the roots of Hoodoo, its development by enslaved Africans in the U.S., and how it has evolved by blending African, Native American, and European traditions. We discuss syncretization between Hoodoo and Christianity, focusing on how this blending allowed African spiritual practices to survive under the guise of Christian practices. I share my journey with Hoodoo – how my intuitive grandmother influenced me and how joining my first coven in 2016 solidified my practice. Stories about my family cemetery and honoring my grandmother, especially on the 5th anniversary of her passing. Reflections on my favorite types of altars – from simple ancestor altars to more elaborate bóvedas influenced by Caribbean traditions. Ancestor veneration as a way to stay connected to the past, helping reconcile different aspects of self and identity, particularly as a Black American.
