The Art of Choosing Your STATE OF MIND (6 Steps)

What if your state of mind was not something that happened to you, but something you could consciously choose? In this episode of Mindset Is Art, CJ explores one of the most liberating mindset principles: you may not be able to control the weather, the market, your partner’s mood, or the circumstances around you, but you can learn to choose your internal state. Building from the core idea in Tune Your Mind — “How you show up mentally matters” — this episode breaks down a practical protocol for shifting out of reactive emotional patterns and into a more intentional, optimal state of mind. This is not just a pep talk. It is a repeatable mindset practice you can use before a meeting, workout, conversation, creative session, performance, or any moment where how you show up matters. In This Episode CJ walks through: Why most people live in reaction instead of conscious state selectionHow your thoughts, feelings, posture, breath, and behavior create feedback loopsWhy asking “What is the optimal state of mind for what I’m doing?” can interrupt old patternsA six-step protocol for shifting your emotional and mental stateHow visualization helps embody a higher-performance version of yourselfHow scent can be used as an olfactory anchor for peak statesWhy language matters, especially the way you use “I am”A simple daily practice to train your mind and body to access better states more consistentlyThe Core Question The central tool from this episode is simple: What is the optimal state of mind for what I’m doing right now? That one question creates space between stimulus and response. It allows you to pause, assess, and intentionally move toward the emotional state that best serves the moment. The Six-Step State Shift Protocol Feel exactly what you feel. Notice the emotion without judging it. Where does it show up in your body? Is it in your throat, chest, gut, face, or somewhere else?Analyze the circumstance. Ask yourself what you are trying to accomplish in this moment.Ask if your current state is serving the goal. Does your current emotional state feel like the best state for what you are trying to do?Identify the optimal state. Ask: What would I be thinking, feeling, and embodying if I were showing up at my highest level?Locate and amplify that energy. Where does that desired state live in your body? What color, texture, or feeling does it have?Visualize and execute. See yourself moving through the situation with that energy, then return to the present moment and act from that state.Mindset Tool of the Day For the next seven days, pause once per day and ask: What is the optimal state of mind for what I’m doing right now? Then take a moment to feel that state in your body, visualize yourself acting from it, and carry that energy into the next action. With repetition, this becomes easier. Your mind and body begin to recognize the state, reproduce it, and access it more naturally. Key Takeaways Your emotional state is not fixed. It is trainable. Your thoughts, body, breath, posture, language, and visualization all influence the state you live from. The better your state, the better your performance — but even more importantly, the better your experience of life. The deeper question is not just, “How do I perform better?” It is: How do I want to feel while I live my life? Lines are for Losers: Take Action, No More WAITING for Success

Do you feel like you are waiting for success to come to you? This episode reframes success as a contact sport—you don’t get picked, you step up. With stories from coaching calls, airport escalators, and the psychology of “back-of-the-line” thinking, CJ shows you how to trade passive patience for bold motion, clarity, and momentum. 💡 Key Takeaways Lines are social fiction. Most “rules” you think you need to follow are just stories.Waiting ≠ patience. Often it’s disguised passiveness that shrinks your comfort zone.Abundance is at the front. Action-takers collaborate, introduce, and share deals.Three traps that keep you stuck in line:Comfort in rules (“If I follow the recipe, I’m safe.”)Back-of-line culture (people policing your progress)Learned helplessness (concluding “nothing works”)Clarity + Certainty → Permission. Know what you want and why—then move.Your progress is not someone else’s loss. Sprint forward without arguing.🛠️ Tool of the Day: Step-Out-of-Line Audit Identify the line: Where are you waiting? (career, wealth, love, fulfillment)Define the target: Write one clear, specific outcome you actually want.Fuel certainty: List 3 reasons this matters (your why).Break the tape: Do one “front-of-line” move today (DM the person, make the offer, book the call, ship the draft).🧠 Prompt to Journal “If I wasn’t waiting for permission, what would I do this week?”Resources: Book: Tune Your Mind (CLICK FOR AMAZON LINK)AudioBook: Tune Your Mind - Finding Follow Through and Fulfillment in the Dawn of Distraction and DisruptionWebsite: CJLedy.comInstagram: Mindset Is ArtSpeech: LIVIN Festival Keynote (Mental Health Awareness)Free Giveaways: Tune Your Mind Worksheets2025 Goal Tracking Document for Goal Check-insIs Your Mind in Tune? Is your mindset in level 1, 2 or 3? If you’ve ever asked “Why do I keep getting stuck?” or “What’s next for me?”, this episode is your roadmap. 💡 Key Takeaways Growth happens in three repeating levels: discovery, mindset, mastery. You can be in different levels across health, wealth, love, and fulfillment — and that’s normal.Level 1 — Marry Your Goal: Find clarity, direction, and commitment. Stop chasing every shiny object and commit to a goal worth your time and soul.Level 2 — Tune Your Mind: Build the mental foundation to follow through. Align your inner world with the outer results you want.Five “strings” to tune: Passion, Clarity, Momentum, Ease, and Necessity.Level 3 — Optimize Your Habits: Step into mastery and flow by aligning your values, routines, and environment.Progress isn’t linear — it’s a wheel of evolution. The Invisible Filters Shaping Your Life

What frames are you viewing the world through?  Can you modify your view of important categories of your life to enhance your experience of it all? You’ll learn how to question the lenses you’ve inherited — the “productivity frame,” the “economic frame,” and the “comparison frame” — and how to replace them with perspectives that foster peace, fulfillment, and joy. 💡 Key Takeaways Your frame determines how you interpret reality — change your frame, change your experience. The scientific method is a powerful tool, but not the only frame of truth; intuition and unseen forces are just as real.Animals and indigenous tribes often perceive energy and connection beyond logic — a reminder that we’re wired for more than data.Common limiting frames include:The Productivity Frame — “My worth equals my output.”The Economic Frame — “Time is money; more is better.”The Comparison Frame — “Everyone’s ahead of me.”You can consciously reframe each area of life: health, relationships, creativity, and self-worth.Your life’s quality isn’t determined by circumstances — it’s defined by the frame you choose to see them through.🛠️ Tool of the Day: The Instagram Filter Imagine each major area of your life — your relationship, your work, your health — as a photo. Now imagine being able to apply a filter that highlights its beauty, gratitude, and purpose. You can’t always change the picture, but you can change the way you see it. Practice shifting one frame today. 🧘 Quote to Reflect On “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” – Anaïs Nin Resources: Book: Tune Your Mind (CLICK FOR AMAZON LINK)AudioBook: Tune Your Mind - Finding Follow Through and Fulfillment in the Dawn of Distraction and DisruptionWebsite: CJLedy.comInstagram: Mindset Is ArtSpeech: LIVIN Festival Keynote (Mental Health Awareness)Free Giveaways: Tune Your Mind Worksheets2025 Goal Tracking Document for Goal Check-insIs Your Mind in Tune? 3 Steps to Personal Leadership

Do you consider yourself to be a leader? Today’s episode reframes leadership as a daily personal practice—not just a job title. CJ shares how scaling from a solo operator to managing ~14 people changed his mindset, and breaks down three principles to lead both others and yourself: Inspire, Delegate, and Give Feedback. Key takeaways You are a leader—of your time, energy, habits, emotions, and choices.Principle 1: Inspire — Cast a clear, energizing vision and connect it to a meaningful why.Principle 2: Delegate — Build structure and strategy. Clarify roles, expectations, and responsibilities (for your team and your own habits).Principle 3: Give Feedback — Review what worked and what didn’t. Celebrate wins, coach gaps, and adjust.Leverage > Hustle — When your team logs ~250–300 hours weekly, improving collective output by 10% beats you grinding solo at 80 hours.Personal leadership means designing your environment and support system so you don’t burn out trying to do everything yourself.Tool of the Day — The Weekly Self-Scorecard (4-week challenge) Quotes referenced John Maxwell: “A great leader’s courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position.”Simon Sinek: Start with Why—clarify the purpose behind the vision.Richard Branson: “If you really want to grow as an entrepreneur, you’ve got to learn to delegate.”Ken Blanchard / Pat Summitt: Feedback is essential; in its absence, people assume the worst.Try this today Write a one-paragraph vision for your next 6 months (health, wealth, love, fulfillment).List 3 roles to delegate (or habits to “bench/keep/start”).Schedule a 15-minute Friday feedback block: What worked, what didn’t, what changes next week?00:26 The Essence of Personal Leadership 01:14 Three Essential Leadership Principles 03:31 Principle 1: Inspire with Vision and Energy 05:41 Principle 2: Delegate with Clarity and Strategy 08:27 Principle 3: The Power of Feedback 11:35 Conclusion and Final Thoughts Resources: Book: Tune Your Mind (CLICK FOR AMAZON LINK)AudioBook: Tune Your Mind - Finding Follow Through and Fulfillment in the Dawn of Distraction and DisruptionWebsite: CJLedy.comInstagram: Mindset Is ArtSpeech: LIVIN Festival Keynote (Mental Health Awareness)Free Giveaways: Tune Your Mind Worksheets2025 Goal Tracking Document for Goal Check-insIs Your Mind in Tune? Mental Fitness: Building Strength That Lasts

Do you wish your mindset could change overnight? The truth is—lasting transformation doesn’t happen instantly. Just like building muscle in the gym, mental strength takes time, repetition, and consistent effort. And that’s actually a good thing. Core Message: Quick breakthroughs can spark change, but real mindset growth is built slowly—through daily habits, repeated thoughts, and intentional “mental reps.” Once developed, that strength becomes your foundation and is hard to take away. Concepts Covered: Breakthrough vs. Slow Growth: Why sudden shifts (like CJ’s hypnosis experience) can open doors, but lasting change requires steady practice.Mindset as Muscle: Mental strength develops like physical fitness—through consistent reps, healthy input, and patience. The Brain Diet: What you feed your mind (thoughts, content, people, environment) shapes your mental health just as much as food shapes your body.Resilience Through Reps: Every thought, belief, and action signals your brain who you are becoming. Over time, that identity sticks.Tool of the Day: For the next 3 days, track your “mental diet.” Each evening, ask: What thoughts did I repeat today? What content did I consume?Did it support the mindset I want to build? Write it down and notice the patterns shaping your future self.Key Takeaway: Your mind is trainable. It may start out weak, but with steady reps, it becomes resilient, confident, and unshakable. Once you’ve built it, you get to live with that strength for life.
