    The Hairy Handed Hitchhiker

    The Hairy Handed Hitchhiker

There are many urban legends and stories of the hitchhiker. This is an affectionate take on the Orson Welles suspenseful radio shows.  The first thriller in our “Overwrought” audio fiction series.    The Mindstream Players parody directed by Tom Konkle. The voice talents of Kurtis Bedford, Gino C. Vianelli, Stephanie Stearns Dulli, Tanya Johnson, David Beeler and Tom Konkle as Orson Welles.  Special thanks to Lucille Fletcher whose brilliant  work was adapted for this parody celebration of vintage radio by Konkle and thank to Larry Groebe

A fresh take on the classics

I stumbled upon this show through Reddit. It caught my attention because I love old time radio shows. The Mindstream Players do an uncanny job of breathing new life into classic old radio show scripts, sometimes with faithful adaptations, and other times as parodies that had me cracking up.

These are livestream recordings and yet somehow they have injected music and sound fx to give the show an audio drama feel. For the most part, the various microphone audios hold up for being a livestream (at first I didn't even realize it was a livestream, that's how well the audio holds up.) And even in the very few times that it falters, the music and production is still higher than most podcasts. It doesn't detract from the show at all.

The voice-acting is top notch and the writing is sharp. But forewarning, this podcast is sometimes NSFW. "The Hairy Handed Hitchhiker" episode is very funny but it's for mature audiences only. 😂 Anyway the podcast is a gem and I'm happy I found it. I'm gonna keep them on my feed and I hope to hear new episodes soon.
