I have personal opinions of Alex that I try to set aside while listening to her podcast, and what I’m left with is that she is terrible at interviewing people because she lacks empathy entirely and is unable to expand her view outside of herself and her own experience at all. I don’t blame her for her privileged life but I do blame her for not rising above or considering others as she tries to be a serious host. It’s all about her, her interviews consist of reading questions from a card and never following up just making whatever the guest says all about her. Her vocabulary is so severely lacking, and I guess that’s okay, but the use of “like” nonstop and “wait. . .” before she says anything is just embarrassing and so juvenile. The cursing is too much, I’m no prude I curse like a sailor but not when I wish to be taken seriously or in certain company/situations. It feels as though she’s still in middle school trying to prove how cool she is, which is very sad especially after watching her documentary. Obviously those experiences really stuck with her, and she now overcompensates as an adult to fill that void within herself. As a woman I find everything she supports vile and destructive towards women. But I’m trying to leave those feelings about her out and just consider her interviewing skills, which are just overall, terrible. Unprofessional, vapid, self absorbed, and boring interviews when she has guests, self righteous, overcompensating, and frankly embarrassing episodes when it’s just her. Other reviews seem to show that many listeners feel the same way and I’m shocked she still has a podcast. And no, I do not listen to Joe Rogan as many of the 5 star reviews claim for some reason, I’m just able to see through her carefully crafted online persona and realize that she has no talent at interviewing or relating to other people. It’s also interesting that she claims to be an independent woman, yet we see just how involved her husband is with this podcast and her comedy tour in her documentary that was honestly shocking to me. Don’t make claims you can’t back up, just say a man has a heavy hand and influence in every joke, decision, or business move you make.
