Director and writer Julian Schnabel reunites with Oscar Isaac for In the Hand of Dante, an adaptation of a 2002 book by Nick Tosches that follows a dual narrative with Isaac in dual roles. The first: as Dante Alighieri as he is banished from his hometown of Florence and sets out to write his famed Comedy. The second: as a fictionalized version of Nick Tosches himself in the early 2000's as he is recruited by the mob to verify the authenticity of a newly discovered original manuscript of the Comedy. Also starring are Gal Gadot as Giulietta and Gemma Donati, Gerald Butler as Louie and Pope Boniface VIII, John Malkovich as Joe Black, Martin Scorsese as Isaiah, Al Pacino as Uncle Carmine, Jason Momoa as Rosario, Louis Cancelmi as Lefty and Guido da Polenta, and Sabrina Impacciatore as Dr. Susanna Pulice.
