    This is the first increase in poverty after five consecutive annual declines, according to the latest Poverty and Income U.S. Census Report. The most significant data is that in 2020, there were 37.2 million people in poverty, approximately 3.3 million more than in 2019.     Since April 28 the Colombian people are protesting against a new tributary law made by Ivan Duque’s government. The law raised taxes for low and medium-wages. As a consequence, inflation has grown as never before. Food, water, gas, and other goods of primary importance are not affordable anymore. However, after just a few days of demonstration, the government had to withdraw the law. But why are people still protesting in the street? Now it’s almost a month, and demonstrations are still going on in Colombia.
