Aaron Volpatti Unveils His Journey Beyond the Ice

Aaron Volpatti is an Author, Cognitive Performance and Injury Coach, Speaker, retired NHL player, and burn survivor. He is a pioneer in Cinematic Visualization and performance mindset.
After a horrific campfire accident in 2005, Aaron was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital. He suffered second and third-degree burns to 40% of his body and was told his hockey career was over. He faced insurmountable odds.
After several surgeries and a gruesome recovery, he returned to the ice four months after his injury and signed with the Vancouver Canucks five years later. In his 5th season with the Washington Capitals, Aaron was hit from behind and underwent a spinal fusion surgery that forced him to retire.
His successes wouldn’t have been possible without the powerful visualization practice he developed. He wrote his own story and visualized it every day. This practice has taken him to the highest level in professional sports—and saved his life.
Listen in for some great takeaways about facing adversity and how important your mindset is to your success.

“This Is Not Financial Advice” with Josh Brown

“This Is Not Financial Advice” with Josh Brown

Josh Brown is the co-founder and CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management. Before that, he was a stockbroker. As a stockbroker, he learned how to sell, how to handle rejection, and everything not to do with your money.
When he realized that everything he’d done in his 10 years as a stockbroker wasn’t helping his clients (nor doing anything for his career), it was an epiphany. He changed his profession so he could help clients. So he shifted from being a commission-based broker to a fee-based financial advisor.
He met Barry Ritholtz through his financial blog, “The Reformed Broker.” Eventually, they partnered and formed Ritholtz Wealth Management. They started with $60 million in AUM in September 2013 and they’ve grown to over $4.3 billion with 65 employees in 15 cities.
Listen in for some great takeaways from Josh’s journey within financial services and how he’s used content creation to grow his brand.

Unraveling the Threads of Success with John's Crazy Socks, Episode #177

Unraveling the Threads of Success with John's Crazy Socks, Episode #177

In 2016, John Cronin was attending his last year of high school. Like every high school senior, he was trying to figure out what came next. John is a natural entrepreneur. He wanted to start a business with his dad. But what were they going to do?
John thought about opening a food truck. But they ran into a problem: neither of them could cook. But then John had a “Eureka!” moment. They decided to sell crazy socks. Why socks? Because they’re fun, colorful, and John loved them. If John loved them that much, they realized they could find other people who loved them, too.
John is not only an entrepreneur, but he also has Down syndrome. Every day, John and his father, Mark, show what people with differing abilities can do. More than half of their colleagues have a differing ability. John’s Crazy Socks is a social enterprise with a mission to spread happiness.
Listen in for some great takeaways about the entrepreneurial journey of a father and son who are paving the way for those with different abilities. They’re making a huge impact while spreading happiness everywhere they go.

Afford Anything with Paula Pant, Episode #176

Afford Anything with Paula Pant, Episode #176

Paula Pant graduated college having no idea that self-employment and entrepreneurship were an option. She got a job as a newspaper reporter for a small paper in Colorado. She started going to journalism conferences that covered print, radio, television, and freelancing.
She dipped into some of the freelancing sessions. That’s when she learned she could be self-employed. She worked at the newspaper for three years and wrote freelance articles in the evenings/weekends. She made far more as a freelance journalist.
She left the newspaper and became a full-time freelancer. Then she decided to build out Afford Anything, which started as a blog and newsletter before becoming a podcast.
Paula’s podcast is now an award-winning show with more than 28 million downloads. It was named by the New York Times as one of “7 Podcasts Your Wallet Will Love.”
In this episode, she shares why her podcast has seen so much success, how you can learn to think differently about financial decisions, and why the notion of traditional retirement is antiquated.
