Is Christmas Destroying our Planet?
The concentration of carbon in our atmosphere is at an all-time high. There has never been more plastic in our oceans and environments. And the destruction of nature and habitats in remote locations far away from us continues unabated, due to our insane appetite for consumption culminating in December each year. Research after research has, in fact, confirmed that none of this relentless over-consumption is making any of us happier, but is, in fact, having the opposite effect, linking to increasing rates of depression, lifestyle diseases and widening inequality.

Earth’s temperature has already risen 1.8 degrees fahrenheit since the start of the industrial Revolution around 1750, and we’re already on track for warming 2.7 degrees as shortly as 2030, in line with a recent report free by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on climate change (IPCC). That 2.7-degree increase is that the skinny line that scientists have drawn, on top of which Earth descends into an uninhabitable hellscape that bears little resemblance to the world we tend to currently call home.

Destructive Weather Linked to Climate Change
At the poles, ice liquefied like never before. within the tropics, hurricanes defied expectations. In temperate areas, extreme heat waves and cold snaps broke temperature records. Forests burned across the world. No one storm or wave will be directly attributed to global climate change, however the warming world usually makes these weather events more common and more extreme.
