    43. Girl Chat: Why Friendship Looks Different in the Second Half of Life

In this episode of Mo-Nection, I’m joined by returning guest and dear friend, Sadie Bohnenkamp, for an honest conversation about friendship in the second half of life. Sadie and I talk openly about how connection shifts as we grow—when we know ourselves better, value authenticity more deeply, and are no longer interested in performing just to belong. We reflect on our very different personalities and personal practices—from Sadie’s action-oriented nature, love of humor, and simple journaling habits to my own evolving relationship with reflection and grounding. What becomes clear is that meaningful friendship doesn’t require sameness; it requires respect and space to be fully yourself. We dive into what it looks like to build lasting connections through boldness and kindness—reaching out, offering genuine compliments, sending handwritten notes, and being willing to hear “no” without making it personal. We also explore how friendships and community have evolved in a more virtual world, why smaller circles often become the most meaningful, and how authenticity—not perfection—is what sustains real connection. This conversation also touches on outgrowing friendships, navigating discomfort, setting boundaries, and telling the truth even when it’s hard. We talk about identity, confidence, and the freedom that comes with no longer trying to fit into spaces that no longer align. This episode is an invitation to rethink friendship in the second half of life—not as something that happens accidentally, but as something we choose, nurture, and tend with intention. 41. Grateful First: Grounded Morning Routine

In this solo episode of Mo-Nection, I’m sharing the morning routine that grounds my days and keeps me aligned with the woman I’m becoming. We begin with Jesus time—creating space for truth, clarity, and direction before the world gets loud. From there, I move into grounding and a gratitude practice that you as a listener can join. Together, we identify three things from the past 24 hours to be grateful for. We’re not waiting for grand, life-changing moments. We’re training ourselves to notice joy in the simple: a meaningful conversation, a moment of peace, a small win, a deep breath. This practice shifts perspective and builds awareness of the good that’s already here. From there, I walk you through one of the most intentional parts of my morning: choosing three results for the day. These aren’t just tasks—they’re actions that move me closer to the December 31, 2026 version of myself. Every result is chosen with that future self in mind. This episode is for anyone who wants to stop rushing through their mornings, reconnect with what matters, and live with greater intention. You’ll leave with a simple rhythm you can practice immediately—and a reminder that becoming your future self starts with how you show up today. Give yourself five minutes to start the foundation of who you want to become. 40. A Story of Permission and Freedom with Michelle Perkin

In this moving episode, Michelle Perkin shares her permission story of shedding the T-shirt she once wore in the water as protection—a symbol of body image struggles that eventually became a weight holding her back. By removing the t-shirt and experiencing the new found freedom, she reminds us that those things that hold us back can show up in many different forms.  She opens up about her brave decision to leave an abusive relationship, the strength it took to seek refuge in a women’s shelter, and how that very shelter later became the workplace where she now serves and empowers others. Through her story, Michelle reminds us that healing is possible, resilience is powerful, and our greatest challenges can become the foundation for our purpose Michelle reminds us that courage and confidence can be learned, sometimes by looking to others as inspiration; aka channeling your inner Nancy. You'll need to listen to find out the details of this one. Take a listen! Meet Michelle: I go by many names, often it’s Michelle, the kids call me Shell. The most important name I have is Mom. I believe that your breath is your medicine. Which lead me to have the name of trauma informed breathwork facilitator. I started my breathwork journey in search of healing my own trauma. Looking to heal the names of girl with anxiety and depression. Girl with PSTD. Girl without a Mom, to name a few that really hurt. I’ve been on a journey of loving my inside and outside in every season I’m in. It’s not easy, it worth it. I’m worth it and so are you! Let’s breathe a life of freedom and love.
