Modern Craftsman

Modern Craftsman is more than just a podcast. It’s a community. A hub for those in this industry to promote excellence, education, knowledge and respect. To share what they’ve done right and what they’ve done wrong. To talk about building, life, leadership, mental health and everything in between. And we want to partner with vendors, brands and people that share the same goals: to make people better, to make the industry better and to advocate for a better life in the trades.
Always timely…

The last mid week of 2024 with Tyler really struck home for me in a few ways. I have a few years of age on Tyler, but less years in business for myself. And the more I learn about my business, the more consistent and comfortable and confident, I am with my numbers. Especially when I take the time to actually slow down and look at them. Thanks again to the Modern Craftsman for making me feel less alone as a solo owner/operator.
Informative and inspiring

There are valuable takeaways in every episode and the long format makes it a great listen on long commutes to and from the jobsite. The blend of construction knowledge and business acumen sets this podcast apart from the others I’ve listened to.

Ear Catching Podcast Review

I have enjoyed listening to this podcast for a few years now but haven’t felt compelled to leave a review. That changed on episode 328 with Mike Rowe. The depth and flow of the conversation was inspiring and intriguing! The side bar conversations they have, although may seem like a tangent, correlate back to the bigger discussion. In general regarding the Modern Craftsman podcast, Tyler and Nick are fun to listen to and they have awesome guest and topics that keep me coming back for more each week! As a current electrician who aspires to be a general contractor one day, these guys help you understand that the mental roadblocks you may be having right now with work or your business, it is something that we all struggle with which is reassuring!

Thanks to all three of you for taking on a topic that is not generally talked about in public and doing it with class. Nick and Tyler, you embody professionalism. All the best, Kyle

I wrote a critical one star review of this show five years ago. I wanted to like to pod back then, but was frustrated because the hosts kept disrespectfully interrupting their guests. Today, the pod has totally won me over. It’s a great resource for everyone in our industry and I look forward to new episodes each week. Nick and Tyler have it dialed in. Keep up the great work!

I thought I posted this one a long time ago, but it is still sitting here and Apple won’t let me delete it, so here you go: My favorite one so far. Paul is inspiring. First, thank you for making business about more than money. Totally agree. Second, I love Paul’s take on the craft. I share his view. I’m a Christian, so that affects a lot of my thought life. As he spoke, I thought a lot about how God works in people. He doesn’t make us perfect according to the common understanding of that word. He makes us perfect for our purpose in this life. We are His craft and we are to imitate Him in our craft. If you would, listen to that part again, but imagine God talking about how He works in people instead of Paul’s relationship to wood. I have no doubt that I sound like a crazy person to more people than not, but I hope someone can relate. I could ramble on, but let me keep it simple. Thank you guys for the podcast. Keep it up!
