The Truth About Midlife Entrepreneurship (No One Talks About This)

What if the life you worked so hard to build… isn’t the life you actually want? In this episode, I sit down with Aliw Pablo, co-founder of BUNSO Collection, to unpack what it really looks like to pivot in midlife, follow your purpose, and build something meaningful, even when it’s hard. Aliw spent over 20 years in media, working high-paying, fast-paced jobs that looked successful on paper… but left little room for actually living. After a wake-up moment that changed everything, she chose a different path, one rooted in faith, storytelling, and purpose. But this isn’t just a highlight reel. We go deep into:• the emotional and financial risk of starting a business• the real truth about selling on Amazon (fees, returns, and low success rates)• taking out a $100K home equity loan to bet on themselves• navigating information overload and learning curves• and why building a business is a lot like having a baby, messy, exhausting, and absolutely worth it This conversation is for the woman who knows she’s meant for more… but needs to hear what it really takes. • Why success on paper doesn’t always equal fulfillment• The moment that made Aliw rethink her entire career• How faith carried her family through a life-altering health journey• The difference between gross revenue vs. actual profit (and why it matters)• The hidden realities of Amazon: fees, returns, and competition• Why only a small percentage of businesses truly succeed — and how to stay in the game• How to move forward when you feel paralyzed by information overload• When to ask for help (and why hiring experts can change everything)• The unexpected perks of entrepreneurship — time freedom, flexibility, and building an asset• Why purpose has to be bigger than money if you want to last “Success isn’t just about income — it’s about having a life you actually get to live.” “People see the sales… but they don’t see the returns, the fees, or the years it takes to become profitable.” “Building a business is like having a baby, you don’t know what you’re doing at first, you lose sleep, you learn as you go… and somehow, it becomes one of the most meaningful things you’ve ever done.” Aliw Pablo is the co-founder of BUNSO Collection, an affordable luxury diaper bag brand designed for modern parents. A mom of two young adults, podcaster, entrepreneur, and media professional with over 20 years of experience, she brings a seasoned and grounded perspective to everything she creates. With a passion for helping families make smarter choices, Aliw blends storytelling, practicality, and real-life parenting insights to create products that go far beyond the diaper stage. • Website: bunsocollection.shop• Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/s?me=A2RQ3RV57HG7K3&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER• Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebunsocollection/ If this episode hit you, share it with a friend who’s been saying “I know I’m meant for more.” And if you’re ready to start building income in the small pockets of your day, without burnout or selling, send me a message with the word COFFEE ☕ and I’ll show you how. hello@iamkatemoir.com or lets connect on social @iamkatemoir

Designing a Business That Works With Your Brain with Dr. Anna Burns

What happens when the career path that looks perfect on paper slowly drains the life out of you? In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Anna Burns, a physiotherapist turned ADHD success coach for female entrepreneurs. Anna shares her journey from working in prestigious physiotherapy roles to building a business that actually supports her energy, focus, and family life. During COVID, Anna pivoted to virtual physiotherapy. Two months later she welcomed her son, and within the following year she received an adult diagnosis of ADHD. That diagnosis changed everything. Instead of forcing herself back into the traditional career path she had worked so hard to build, Anna chose to release the expectations of others and design a life and business that worked with her brain rather than against it. If you’ve ever felt like your life looks successful on the outside but inside you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck in constant decision fatigue , this conversation will resonate deeply. What We Talk About • Anna’s path to becoming a physiotherapist and working in highly respected clinical settings• The hidden burnout many high-achieving women experience• The moment she realized the traditional career path wasn’t sustainable• Pivoting to virtual work during COVID and becoming a new mom• Receiving an ADHD diagnosis as an adult and how that reframed everything• Letting go of other people’s expectations• Designing a business around your energy, focus, and boundaries• Why reducing decision fatigue is key to building a life you love• What it means to truly own your day instead of reacting to it A Message for Women Listening So many women are doing everything “right” on paper but feel like they’re slowly shrinking inside. This episode is a reminder that you are allowed to design a life that works for you: your brain, your energy, your priorities, and your family. You don’t have to follow the expected path. Why Your Life Isn’t Changing (And the Truth Most Coaches Won’t Say)

In today’s episode I’m sharing something that might feel like a little tough love but it comes from a place of deep care. I truly believe moms can build wealth and wellness without burnout. I’ve seen it. I’m living it. And I want that freedom for other women too. But there’s a truth we don’t talk about enough… No coach, mentor, system, or opportunity can help someone who isn’t willing to help themselves. And I say that with compassion because I’ve been there too. Over the years I’ve invested heavily in coaching and personal growth, and the biggest lesson I’ve learned is this: Success isn’t complicated. It comes down to mindset and consistent action. In this episode we talk about: • Why inconsistency, not lack of ability, holds most women back• How many of us show up powerfully in one area of life but avoid another• Why confidence actually comes after action, not before• The identity shift that changes everything• How to start rebuilding trust with yourself through small, daily actions If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated with yourself, this conversation will help you reset and refocus. You don’t need a total life overhaul. You just need to start showing up again for the woman you want to become. 1️⃣ Choose one area of your life to lead yourself again(health, business, mindset, relationships) 2️⃣ Decide your one consistent action that is intentionally going to help you move forward 3️⃣ Keep the promise to yourself Confidence and momentum are built through the promises we keep, not the ones we talk about. If you're a busy mom who wants to create extra income without becoming spammy or burning out, I’d love to share the simple system that helped me build my business in the small pockets of my day. It’s called my Coffee Break Freedom Strategy  and it’s exactly how I started creating income in 15-minute pockets between mom life, work, and everything else. Episode: High Performers, Burnout & Reclaiming Yourself in Midlife (with Sally)

Mommas Making Commas is a podcast about creating income, time freedom, and fulfillment without burnout. We talk real life, real seasons of motherhood and midlife, and how women can build lives that support their health, relationships, and purpose, not just their responsibilities. Follow us at www.iamkatemoir.com katemoir.com In this episode, we talk about a conversation so many women are quietly having with themselves… but rarely out loud. What happens when you did everything right? You built the career. You carried the family. You became dependable, capable, and strong for everyone around you. And yet… you don’t feel like you anymore. Meet Sally! Sally Arkell-Boles is the founder of Sovereign Soul Mastery and the host of Sovereign Soul European Retreat, where legacy meets luxury and leadership meets embodiment. A former corporate leader who managed teams of thousands and oversaw more than a Billion Dollars in assets, Sally built her reputation as the woman who gets things done. Today, she guides accomplished women - entrepreneurs, leaders and changemakers - to lead themselves first, create work they love, and design a legacy on their own terms. Her work blends business mastery with deep inner transformation, helping women step into their most authentic, powerful and fulfilled selves. Because the most sovereign thing a woman can do is choose herself first.  Links: https://www.sallyarkellboles.com/https://www.sallyarkellboles.com/return-to-herLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sallyarkellboles/IG: https://www.instagram.com/sallyarkellboles/?hl=enFB: https://www.facebook.com/sally.arkellboles Sally works with high-performing midlife women who look successful on the outside but feel disconnected, exhausted, and unsure of what they actually want in their next chapter. After experiencing this herself, she pivoted into coaching not to escape work, but to create a life she didn’t need to recover from. We unpack why burnout isn’t always about working too much…Sometimes it’s about living too long without alignment. One of the biggest takeaways from our conversation:Growth doesn’t come from pressure — it comes from curiosity. When women allow themselves to have FUN again, to try new things, and to be willing to learn instead of perform, they start reconnecting with themselves. And when that happens?Confidence, clarity, and even income opportunities naturally follow. Many high achievers have spent decades being responsible. But responsibility without joy eventually becomes emotional fatigue. Reclaiming yourself doesn’t mean blowing up your life.It means slowly learning to trust your own voice again. Why high-capacity women are especially prone to losing themselves in roles The difference between physical exhaustion and identity exhaustion Signs you’ve outgrown a season of life (even if it looks successful) Why guilt shows up when women start wanting something different How curiosity and learning re-ignite confidence Why fun is not a distraction — it’s a signal How small changes can create big shifts in fulfillment and direction You are not lazy. You are not ungrateful. You are not broken. You may simply be ready for a new season, one where you are included in the life you built. High performers often believe they must push harder to feel better. Sometimes growth actually begins when you soften, explore, learn, and allow joy back into your life. When you are willing to learn and willing to try again you grow. And growth always brings reward, though it doesn’t always look the way you expected. What is something you used to enjoy… that you stopped doing because you became “too responsible”? Your next chapter may start there. If this episode felt like it was describing you, message me the word RESET on Instagram @iamkatemoir, I’d genuinely love to hear what part resonated with you.

Legacy Isn’t Just Money: The 3 Pillars Every Family Needs

If something happened tomorrow… would your family be okay? Not just emotionally.Financially. In this episode of Mommas Making Commas, Kate sits down with Maddison Knafel, a busy momma and financial advisor, to talk about meaningful financial conversations, succession planning, and what preparedness really looks like for everyday families. This isn’t about fear. It’s about love. It’s about structure. It’s about building stability that outlives you. And as always, we connect it back to this truth: Return on investment is more than just hours worked today. It’s what continues when you can’t. Why so many families avoid financial planning conversations What “legacy” really means beyond inheritance The emotional cost of being unprepared Why income stability matters in long-term planning How repeat income fits into generational strategy Maddison shared three foundational pieces every family should have in place: Not as a luxury. Not as a “someday.”But as protection for the people who depend on you. Life insurance ensures your family isn’t left scrambling if you’re no longer here to provide. It creates breathing room during one of the hardest seasons of life. Most families insure their homes. They insure their vehicles. But they don’t insure their income. Disability insurance, especially long-term coverage beginning around day 91, protects your earning power if illness or injury prevents you from working. Because the biggest financial risk isn’t death. It’s losing income while still living. Emergency savings create peace. Whether it’s 3 months or 6 months of expenses, having reserves reduces stress, prevents panic decisions, and gives families time to think clearly in crisis. Savings are not just financial, they’re emotional stability. Preparedness is an act of love. And building income — especially repeat income — isn’t just about earning more. It’s about stability. It’s about reducing stress. It’s about knowing that if life shifts unexpectedly, your family isn’t starting from zero. Legacy isn’t built in crisis. It’s built in calm. Ask yourself: Do I have life insurance in place? Do I have income protection? Do I have at least 3 months of savings? If not, don’t panic. Start one conversation. That’s how legacy begins. If this episode resonated with you, share it with another mom who needs to hear it. And as always, I’m cheering you on as you build income that supports your life, protects your family, and leaves something meaningful behind.

When a 3:30AM “God Tap” Became a Monthly Income with Robbin

What if the idea you keep brushing off… is actually the one meant for you? In this episode I sat down with Robbin, a fellow mom who didn’t start with a business plan, a big following, or a polished brand. She started with something many of us have experienced, a middle-of-the-night nudge she couldn’t ignore. At 3:30 AM in 2021, Robbin woke up with what she calls a “God tap” an idea to simply gather women together to connect. No logo.No course. No revenue model. Just a willingness to stop overthinking and start moving. What began as one small step has now grown into monthly networking events, webinars, podcast coaching, and helping mom-based businesses brand and market themselves creating consistent income while still being present at home. This conversation is especially encouraging for any mom who feels stuck in analysis paralysis, comparison, or waiting until she feels “ready.” • Why many moms stay stuck not because of ability, but because they’re getting in their own way• How networking can be a powerful income skill (even for introverts)• Why clarity comes after action, not before• Turning a simple idea into recurring monthly events• Helping moms build visibility and confidence in their business• The power of consistency over perfection Be consistent — small actions done regularly build trust and momentum Speak to your specific audience — not everyone is your person, and that’s a good thing Network and make new connections — relationships create opportunities You don’t need a full business plan to begin. Many incomes don’t start as a “business.”They start as helping people, building relationships, and showing up before you feel ready. Sometimes we aren’t lacking opportunity — we’re just waiting for confidence instead of letting action create it.
