    Transformers: Age of Extinction

    Oh look! a new film by Michael Bay! Taglines -This is not war, it’s extinction IMDB Plot Summary - After the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons that leveled Chicago, humanity thinks that all alien robots are a threat. So Harold Attinger, a CIA agent, establishes a unit whose sole purpose is to hunt down all of them. But it turns out that they are aided by another alien robot who is searching for Optimus Prime. Cade Yeager, a “robotics expert”, buys an old truck and upon examining it, he thinks it’s a Transformer. When he powers it up, he discovers it’s Optimus. Later, men from the unit show up looking for Optimus. He helps Yeager and his daughter escape but are pursued by the hunter. They escape and Yeager learns from technology he took from the men that a technology magnate and defense contractor named Joshua Joyce is part of what’s going on, so they go to find out what’s going on.     The Thing

    Tagline - man is the warmest place to hide. IMDB Plot Summary - An American scientific expedition to the frozen wastes of the Antarctic is interrupted by a group of seemingly mad Norwegians pursuing and shooting a dog. The helicopter pursuing the dog explodes, eventually leaving no explanation for the chase. During the night, the dog mutates and attacks other dogs in the cage and members of the team that investigate. The team soon realizes that an alien life-form with the ability to take over other bodies is on the loose and they don’t know who may already have been taken over. Download Podcast

    Rough Cut Film Review takes a look at the much laughed at John Carter (of Mars) which suffers from being a 100 year old pulp novella, having a duff leading man, having it’s most interesting ideas pillared by other films and also the fact that everything is called something really silly like “baasoo” - not entirely rubbish but entirely inexplicable to think anyone involved with this would bet their own money on this being a success.
