More Movement Please

Famous Ashley Grant

I walked into my first Zumba class and lasted 15 minutes before I had to leave because I couldn't breathe. I couldn't do a single jumping jack. I couldn't hold a plank. I was using 5-pound dumbbells and calling them my "big weights." That was August 2023. Today? 600+ group fitness classes. 26 pounds down. I'm using 20-pound dumbbells, taking multiple classes in a day, and chasing the high that comes with working out and moving more every chance that I get. I'm Famous Ashley Grant, and More Movement Please is a fitness podcast for women over 40 who are done waiting to feel stronger. Think of it as your fit after 40 survival guide, minus the unrealistic advice and the influencers who make everything look effortless. I record most episodes from my car on the way to and from the gym, so they're quick (5-10 minutes), honest, and easy to binge. Think of me as your workout buddy who keeps it real. This show is part accountability, part education, part inspiration. I talk about beginner fitness tips, gym motivation, what to do when you sleep through your alarm, why most fitness influencers are full of it, and how small lifestyle changes beat crash diets every single time. Sometimes I bring on guests — like my YMCA instructor Rhonda Goode, who told me the thing that changed everything: "Everyone is busy, but it's a choice to schedule exercise just like anything else." The goal isn't a number on a scale. It's getting strong, feeling better in your body, and building a community of people who believe they deserve to move. I want this to be more than a podcast. I want it to be a movement of movement. Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes weekly. Onwards and upwards, friends. Have you worked out today? The Goals That Scare Me for Year Two

Ashley breaks down what she's learned after a full year of daily movement and why this was never meant to be a temporary challenge. She talks about her goal to consistently reach for 20 pound and 10 pound dumbbells, her hope to finally fit into smaller pants after dropping four sizes, and her plan to move throughout the entire day instead of just during workouts. She also shares why she wants to grow the accountability community and get more people moving, plus the new activities she's adding to her routine, including hiking, biking, dance classes, and maybe even kickboxing. If you've ever finished a fitness goal and wondered what comes next, this episode will help you figure out how to keep going without burning out. Saying Goodbye to My Before Clothes

In this episode, I get honest about cleaning out my closet and just how complicated that process turned out to be. Some clothes I was thrilled to get rid of. Others I felt weirdly attached to, even though I don't want to fit into them again. I talk about the clothes I bought just because they fit my bigger body, even when I didn't actually like them, and why I now realize that was tied to feeling embarrassed about my size at the time. I also get into the "fat tax," the frustrating reality that bigger clothes often cost more, and why I'm being cautious about buying a full new wardrobe while I'm still working on getting smaller. If you've ever felt weirdly sentimental about clothes you swore you'd never miss, or nervous about spending money on a body you're still changing, this one's for you. Stop Scrolling Fitspo: Why Comparing Your Progress to Others Is Sabotaging You

Scrolling fitspo and feeling behind? You have no idea what's really happening behind those posts. Here's why comparison is wrecking your progress and what to do instead. In this episode, Ashley breaks down "compare-schlager" (comparing yourself to everyone except who you were yesterday) and why doomscrolling through other people's fitness content can quietly derail your mental progress. She gets honest about her own struggles watching people who started later than her lose more weight or get stronger faster, and why genetics, stress levels, and unseen habits make those comparisons pointless. If you've ever closed an app feeling like you're not doing enough, this one's for you. Join the FREE accountability group: https://famousashleygrant.com/group/ Have a thought about this episode? 21 vs. 41: The Fitness Advice I Wish Someone Gave Me Twenty Years Ago

At twenty-one, Ashley Grant was active without even trying. At forty-one, she's rebuilding everything she let slip away. In this episode of More Movement Please, Ashley gets honest about the two decades she spent not moving her body, and the specific advice she wishes someone had handed her before the weight crept on. From ditching the stairs to falling for quick fixes, she breaks down exactly where things went sideways and what she'd tell her younger self instead. If you're standing at your own turning point right now, wondering whether the small choices really matter, this one's for you. Tornado Watch or Tornado Warning: The Real Reason I Finally Started Working Out

A doctor's warning didn't change anything. Watching someone she loved struggle with their health did. In this episode, Ashley shares the honest, unexpected moment that finally got her off the couch after years of being told she needed to. She breaks down the difference between a "tornado watch" and a "tornado warning" and how that idea helped her understand why some warnings stick and others don't. If you've been told you need to take care of yourself but haven't felt the urgency yet, this episode will help you figure out exactly where you stand and what to do about it. Freedom Isn't Just a Holiday. It's What Fitness Gives You Back.

A thirty-five pack of water used to mean asking for help. Now Ashley picks it up herself, and that's just the start of what fitness gave her back. In this Fourth of July episode, she talks about the real freedom that comes from getting stronger: carrying your own groceries, taking the stairs without stopping, dancing all night without needing a chair. She reflects on hikes she couldn't have finished a year ago and a dance floor moment with her husband that reminded her why she started. If you've ever felt boxed in by your own body, this one's for you. Have you worked out today?
