When people talk about the "glass ceiling," they're talking about the barriers women face when trying to reach higher positions in the workplace — but for women of color, the ceiling isn't made of glass, but of concrete.
 

From the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women movement to high COVID cases, the impact of historical trauma continues to affect native people in Utah today.  But along with the pain, a legacy of resiliency has been handed down from generation to generation.

Utah is ranked among the last in the nation for access to affordable child care. Parents seeking care for children under the age of six can pay upwards of $1,400 a month per child. These high costs aren’t just affecting families, but the economy as well, as mothers struggle to succeed in the workforce.

If you see an alarmingly high infant mortality rate in a group of people - how do you go about changing it?  One program used cultural knowledge, intergenerational wisdom, and storytelling to create awareness about maternal and infant health in Utah's Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities.

For many women, the balance between career and home can be difficult to find.  But what happens if you’re told growing up you have to put your family first?  One artist is using her work to explore the gender messages she grew up with and help raise a generation of confident girls.

With Utah’s high rates of sexual violence, one group is looking to equip teens with the knowledge needed to keep them safe.  Teen Council trains high school students to become sex educators for their peers, teaching them about consent and healthy relationships.
