Dr Chethan Sathya is a pediatric surgeon and the director of the Center for Gun Violence Prevention at Northwell Health in New York. His team is approaching gun violence as a public health crisis and disease – a perspective that I found so interesting because of the unique way it addresses an issue as complex as gun violence, with the potential to create solutions that truly can unite everyone towards creating safer communities and societies across this nation. It was an absolute honor to be able to chat with Che and learn about all the amazing work he and his team are doing and now to be able to share this conversation with you.

The Center for Gun Violence Prevention is “investing in gun violence research, developing best practices for hospitals and mobilizing a national coalition of health care leaders to depolarize gun safety and tackle this public health crisis.”
