    A Red Card, A Reality Check & The Limits of This United Squad

    Manchester United had the chance to further cement third place… and instead reminded everyone why this season still feels fragile. This week’s podcast looks at two very different games that ended up telling the same story. Against Crystal Palace we finally saw Benjamin Sesko get the start his performances deserved. A painfully slow first half still produced chances, before United eventually found more purpose after the break. A soft penalty and an even softer red card helped swing the game, but Sesko’s towering header showed exactly why the hype around him exists. There was also an enjoyable cameo from Amad, another reminder that there are sparks in this squad when things actually start moving. Then came Newcastle. Another big opportunity. Another painfully slow start. Another soft red card. And this time United didn’t escape it. The defeat shouldn’t really surprise anyone. The warning signs have been there for weeks. Scraped wins and awkward performances against Fulham, Everton, West Ham and Palace hinted that something wasn’t quite right. At some point those margins disappear. And this episode asks the uncomfortable question: are these problems tactical… or simply the limits of the squad?     Big Ben Batters Aldi Arsenal

    Another week, another reminder that nothing ever comes easily when you follow Manchester United. What looked like a promising start quickly turned into a long, frustrating evening as United struggled to break down an Everton side perfectly happy to slow the game to a crawl and make life uncomfortable. A bright opening five minutes hinted at control and momentum — but once Everton settled, the next 85 became a test of patience, ideas, and ultimately effectiveness in the final third. There was concern surrounding Lisandro Martínez’s injury. Losing arguably the squad’s most progressive passer for a game when creativity was sorely needed was a major obstacle. Should Benjamin Šeško have started? Another clinical contribution has only added fuel to that debate, raising bigger questions about selection, balance, and how United best unlock stubborn opposition. Plus — Everton being Everton. Structure, disruption, and a game plan designed to drag opponents into the mud. Sometimes you simply have to accept the fight rather than expect the football. Most importantly, though: does performance actually matter right now?
